I know, I know, I know!! You are either tired of hearing about it or can not get enough of it…..but the fact is Monkey Ball was one of the most anticipated gaming launches we have ever seen. Built on Solana, it took the gaming world by storm and does not look to slow down anytime soon. Matter of fact it is quite the opposite, Monkey Ball just got the first whistle to start play in their quest to the top of the gaming world.

Best described as a cross between FIFA Street and Final Fantasy, MonkeyBall is a fast-paced, turn-based soccer game that’s easy to learn yet hard to master.

In the game, each player builds and controls a team of four monkeys, each with innate abilities that make them best suited for each of the positions — the Striker, Defender, Midfielder, and Goalkeeper. Matches are played between two teams and consist of 12 rounds — 6 rounds per half. A round finishes when the two teams complete their turns. In each turn, each team can perform one of three actions — moving the player, dribbling, passing or shooting the ball, or a Special Move.

For each action a player performs, his unique abilities are challenged by his opponent. For example, when kicking to score a goal, a players’ accuracy score is challenged by the goalkeeper’s agility. Similarly, when trying to dribble, a Scorer’s dribble score is challenged by the opponent’s Midfielder’s strength.

Each turn ends after a player has performed their actions or clicked “End Turn”. The first team to three goals or the team with the most goals after the full match time of five minutes wins.

Gameplay isn’t limited to matches. Back at HQ, you can take care of and train your Monkeys to improve their abilities and in-game performance.

Three Modes of Play:

  • Player vs Environment: training mode to increase your Monkey’s overall abilities
  • Player vs Player: the classic 4v4 match where each player controls his entire team
  • Team vs Team: a match in which each team is being controlled by multiple players

Ways to Earn:

  • Play and Win Matches
  • Own Stadiums & Host Matches
  • Be a Spectator and Cheer for the Winning Team

MonkeyBucks is the in-game currency powering the game economy. Players get $MBS by buying it on DEXs, opening loot boxes, completing missions, winning matches, being a Spectator, or hosting games in your Stadiums.

Players spend $MBS to breed new Monkeys and to buy consumable items in the game’s store. The game’s store revenue is then sent to the game’s treasury.

MonkeyBall’s platform will be governed by a decentralized autonomous organization (DAO). $SCORE is the DAO’s token and with it, players will be able to vote on economic decisions that affect the game’s treasury. More details will follow in the future.

MonkeyBall contains three types of in-game Assets and NFTs:

  • Monkeys: They are the teams’ players on the field, introduced by NFT assets owned by game players. Each Monkey NFT is created with a unique DNA, but it’s not just a beautiful and rare collectible, monkeys are in-game assets that affect the ability to play and win matches, serving as a prime income generator in the game by winning matches. Generation 0 of the Monkeys will be limited to 5,000 out of nearly 5 billion possible permutations — illustrating the rarity level.
  • Stadiums: In MonkeyBall’s metaverse, Stadiums are Land assets that are introduced by NFTs and also owned by game players. They serve as one of the passive forms to earn MonkeyBucks. Matches between teams are hosted in Stadiums. Stadium owners who host games, tournaments, and special events are rewarded and collect a fee from the game platform. Stadiums can also be upgraded by building and acquiring new and special facilities to attract more users.
  • Spectators: If you don’t have the MonkeyBucks to purchase a stadium or Monkeys right away, game players can also earn passive income by being match Spectators and cheering for the winning team. Being a Spectator is fairly easy that’s not only super rewarding for the Spectators themselves but also their participation as such impacts the overall results of the match by boosting the morale of the team they selected.
