Cost per thousand (CPM), also called cost per mille, is a marketing term used to denote the
price of 1,000 advertisement impressions on one web page. If the BBS member charges
$50.00 CPM, that means an advertiser must pay $50.00 for every 1,000 impressions of their ad.
The "M" in CPM represents the word "mille," which is Latin for "thousands."
Breaking that down even simpler : That is .05 cents per view ( Not to be confused with the CPC method - Cost Per Click on the ad )
What does this mean for us on Banter BBS ?
When you make a post it shows up in the feed but the ad banner is hidden.
It does not show up till someone clicks to pull it up.
Once they do that the ad server charges the person leasing it the CPM charge based off whatever their CPM is set at.
They do not have to actually click on the banner ad and go to the redirect . Just the act of it coming up where you can "view" it triggers an ad server charge.
For example : Someone is paying 50 CPM, you buy that post. You will get .05 cents per view.
I do not know this for a fact but I think the min payout for the ad server is around .50 to .55
cents. These are the amounts I have seen so far.
I hope this has helped you if you have been curious.
So, when you get a notification sent you saying
adserver sent you .55 BANTER with a note saying " owner payment "
It is your leasing income from someone leasing your ad space.
I hope this has helped you if you have been curious.
