Back in the days when we still learned the British Imperial system, some one who eventually became a friend of mine told me :

He who thinks by the yard, but does by the inch, 📏 deserve to be kicked by the foot. 🦶

That saying applies well to me because inaction on my part has caused me to underperform in life.

The saying was given to me in an autograph the friend 👩‍⚕️  wrote for me. We studied for 2 years in a tuition class. I developed a crush for her but was so shy 🤢 and had such a gigantic inferiority 😱 complex that I did not dare to talk to her.

A few months before the end of the 2 years, I passed a note 📝 to her that said " If you do not mind, I would very much like that we be friends" 👩‍⚕️😨

It was a note that I had agonised over to ✍️ write. The carefully worded note expressed my strong desire to be friends but also shows my insecurity and expectation that she would not want to be friends with a worm 🐛 like me.

I was so insecure and thought that she minded and would rather not be friends. So I did not follow up on that note by speaking 🤭 to her.

Months passed by and a few weeks before the tuition class ended I passed an autograph 📖 book to her and what she wrote was the above saying.

Do you think that what she wrote was a rebuke to me for wanting to be friends but not doing anything to build a friendship? Perhaps she was encouraging me to take action if I wanted to be friends. Hmmm?

Now that I know her kind, gentle and friendly nature, my guess is that it was gentle chiding - soft rebuke that can be taken as an encouragement to do something if I wanted to be friends. Not to be NATO.

After we stopped having tuition, I missed her and finally picked up the courage to write a 📨 letter to her house.

I did not know that she has gone ✈️ overseas to further her studies.

The good news is that we became pen friends. 📬

Her younger sister forwarded my 📨 letter to her. So careless of me not to include my address in the letter.

She had to send a letter for me through her friend who knows where I lived. TQ friend of friend 🙍 for delivering her letter by hand to me.

I was very happy to receive that letter from her. We became pen friends and I always looked forward to receiving her letters.

The song "Please Mr Postman" by the Carpenters really resonated with me for a few years - always hoping that the postman will have a letter from her. 👋📨

Being pen friends was as far as our relationship went. I am glad that we did become friends and the influence she has had in my life.

She is a fantastic person that I still respect greatly. But as far as romance is concerned, it was a teenage crush.

I am so glad that when the most wonderful person came into my life, it was not NATO all over again. Instead we got married 👨‍❤️‍💋‍👨 and I am really thankful to God for the lovely wife I have. I ❤️ U my darling wife  👰 KC
If we apply the saying my friend wrote to our interest in cryptocurrencies, it is no point, thinking about or talking about cryptocurrencies 

Unless we actually buy cryptocurrencies we will get nothing even if cryptocurrencies go to the moon. So do not be NATO
