Will the USD be dethroned by efforts to dedollarize? The amount of $'s in circulation is increasing tremendously as more and more is printed as a result of deficit spending. Governments try to blame inflation on external factors or factors beyond their control such as wars or supply chain issues. Even though authorities may not admit it, the growth in money in circulation is a primary cause of inflation. The post in the link talks of the price of instant noodles being an indicator of the state of the economy. It also talks of packets of noodles becoming a currency. Will we come to the stage when we use noodles to trade for other objects? In my country the price of instant noodles have risen substantially in the last 1:year - around 20% Nissin which is one of the brands mentioned in the post is available in Malaysia. But it is by far not among the cheaper brands.

The food giant, Nestle, produces what may be the most popular or well known brand of noodles in Malaysia that cost less than half of Nissin products.

The product made by Nestle is a popular food sold by hawkers or street vendors. High class cafes may offer Nissin products in their menu. Do you eat a lot of noodles?

There is usually packets of noodles in my house around the year as I eat them frequently. My daughter loves to eat them.
