Ederson the third-fastest goalkeeper to get 100 clean sheets

Brazilian reaches century of shutouts in fewer matches than Schmeichel, Seaman and Van der Sar
Manchester City goalkeeper Ederson reached a significant milestone, keeping his 100th Premier League clean sheet in Saturday’s 2-0 home win over Newcastle United.

While that achievement is worthy of celebration in itself, the Brazilian can take extra pride from the fact he is the third-fastest goalkeeper to reach a century of shutouts in the competition, doing so in 208 matches.

Ederson has needed fewer appearances to reach 100 clean sheets than Premier League greats such as Peter Schmeichel, David Seaman and Edwin van der Sar.
Only Petr Cech and Pepe Reina have reached the milestone quicker than the Man City goalkeeper.
Ederson could go on to set a Premier League record this season, becoming the first goalkeeper to win the Castrol Golden Glove award in four successive seasons.
However, he has work to do to retain that title for the most clean sheets in a season.
Even after his latest shutout, he is three behind the15 clean sheets of leader Nick Pope, and all of Ederson's main rivals have at least one extra match to play this season.
