The long and winding road is a song by the Beatles

What has the road of your life been like?

Has it been long and winding?

Has storms, cold and windy nights left pools of tears like mentioned in the song?

The road that you have travelled on has led you to a door. What lies ahead after the door?

In the song by the Beatles there is a door. In life, there are 2 doors. What will the road after the doors be like?

Will it be broad and easy? Will it be narrow and crooked? You have the right to choose the road to go down. A road that is broad and easy such as one that goes down a hill and full of things to enjoy is tempting. The narrow and crooked path that goes up a hill and has many obstacles along the way is not an attractive choice. It is a difficult road to go up but it may be the road where we become stronger and better as we  go on. As you stand at the door and choose the door and road ahead, what does Jesus have to say?

He said in Matthew 7:13 & 14 "Enter by the narrow gate for wide is the gate and broad is the way that leads to destruction and there are many who go in by it. Because narrow is the gate and difficult is the way which leads to life, and there are few who find it" A life without restrictions and where we can do anything we like is comfortable. It is a pleasure to enjoy all that is available, all the wine, women (or men if you are so inclined) and song that the world has. But a wanton life is a road that leads to destruction. Laws and restrictions are there for our good and for the good of the community as a whole. We cannot selfishly enjoy ourselves without regard to others. This narrow path is the path that leads to life.

What does Jesus say about himself? In John 14:6, He said " I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me"

Jesus offers himself as the door and the way. You have the right to choose which door to open and which way to take.

Jesus also said in Revelations 9:20  "Behold I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears my voice and opens the door, I will come in to him and dine with him and he with Me" Jesus is standing at the door and knocking. He is saying to you what was mentioned above. Will you hear his voice and open the door? He promises to come into your life if you allow him to do so.
