The film is set in the year 1823 about hideout hunter Hugh Glass (DiCaprio), who is attacked by a grizzly bear while he and his companions are escaping from the pursuit of an Indian tribe. One of his companions loots him and kills his son and leaves him to die alone in the forest, but he survives and goes on a 320 km journey to take revenge on the man who betrayed him (Hardy) and killed his son.
