-The story revolves around eight people, spread across the world, who suddenly become intellectually, emotionally and sensory connected. The series explores themes that its directors believe are typically overlooked by science fiction series, including politics, identity, sexuality, gender and religion.

-To properly show the international aspect of the story, filming took place in nine cities located in eight different countries: Chicago, San Francisco, London, Berlin, Seoul, Reykjavik, Mexico City, Nairobi and Bombay.
