Hello all in this great community. I really hope you take the time to read this.

This community has been built up organically by a great owner and great set of Mods. I’ve felt a real sense of community and genuine engagement betweeen people…… a month or so ago!

I’m writing this in the hope that those now joining a new and expanding community think about what they posts and how they interact.

What is a bbs board for?

Why would any of us spend time online posting and engaging? It should be to share interesting content, for discussion, to educate, inspire and get good dialogue going. If you use Reddit you see lots of posts about things, people replying, people genuinely seeking out information…. It’s has a valid use.

Sadly my experience here of late (and I’m not saying I’m perfect) is that people are continually posting material with no real purpose or thought.

1)

I.e picture of say some cheese and then a copy and pasted paragraph saying ‘cheese is…. Blah blah’

I mean what is the point in that post? What engagement are you trying to achieve and what discussion can that meaningfully generate.

Posts should be things you passionate  about, interested  in and about things where you want general debate.

2) replies and comments. ‘
Nice post, check mine’ ‘nice sharing’ - pretty meaningless. I know I’m guilty to. We should engage properly if we want discussion about the post.

Here is what is infuriating! You post something that asks a question. Someone buys it. Doesn’t comment. Other people tag ‘nice post’ or ‘nice sharing’ which shows they have not read the posts or even relply  to it with what it is about! 

It seems people write something so that they hope the author goes to their post for an impression so you get that all important publisher payment. 

Please please if someone puts out a post with a question , a challenge or a discussion, if you choose to interact then interact meaningfully 

So I shared I silly meme post of a picture of a toilet today in a Super high building with an amazing view. I posed the question - where is it! Bit of fun….. figuring out a city from up above.

Now if you saw this I hope you might open it and guess where it might be! …..

Noooo…..The replies I get ‘nice post’ ‘nice share’ - no guess, no interaction.

So why buy the post or comment if not about what the post is trying to engage your with!.the interaction is meaningless.

I don’t mean for this to sound like a rant but for this platform to succeed people need to post good content that people are interested in interacting with.

Meta engagers is great and has a great community but lately it feels people are joining and simply ‘sh** posting’ about nothing and just want cash. There is no longevity for a platform if this is how it goes.

Now again I’m not perfect and i acknowledge this….. and I will do better, but when I log on here I want to see good content not pointless copy and pasted text about nothing in particular.

A community grows via people using it for genuine reasons….. let’s try post things and chat about good stuff.

That way people will also use the search function…. To actually search for topics and info they want to find out about.

This platform is good, this community is good, the mods are working hard. So post proper content and if you engage with a post do it for a reason
