Hong Kong to local banks: play nice with crypto firms

Hey Noobs The thing is  Crypto has come to stay It’s without a doubt that soon every enterprise will have no choice but to hop on it It’s only a matter of time💡 What brought about this statement was when British Banks stopped a crypto transaction to crypto Exchanges That’s a backward move for the crypto space! Read below  Regulators in Hong Kong are urging banks to provide much-needed services to crypto companies as part of a multi-faceted push to establish the city as an industry hub. The Hong Kong Monetary Authority said it expects that “regulated virtual asset service providers (VASPs) will be able to successfully apply for a bank account through a reasonable process,” in a blog post published April 27 and signed by Arthur Yuen, the watchdog’s deputy chief executive. In a circular sent later the same day, the HKMA said banks should support licensed crypto firmswith “their legitimate need for bank accounts,” according to a Bloomberg report.   The updates come after Hong Kong’s Securities and Futures Commission signalled yesterday that it would publish guidelines on its licensing regime for crypto exchanges in May. It’s all part of a push to establish Hong Kong as a crypto-friendly jurisdiction, even as other regulators in other major financial hubs crack down on the sector. In the U.S., authorities have been piling pressure on the crypto industry — in part by shuttering lenders, such as Signature Bank and Silvergate Banks, that had worked closely with startups in the space.  While in Europe, the lobby group CryptoUK wrote to the government last month to complain about British banks blocking transfers to crypto exchanges.

UK may have crypto regulation within a year, says senior minister

Hey Noobs Good morning  Oh well as we all know, regulation of crypto has been a major discussion across countries A few agree and a few disagree🥹 This is normal  And already I think the UK is in support of crypto Assets, so maybe this should only have a positive effect😊 Read more 👇🏽  The lawmaker said the regulation will need to be both “pragmatic” and “proportionate” to ensure economic growth is maximized. The United Kingdom could lay out digital asset regulation within 12 months, a British lawmaker claimed, saying the country wants to capitalize on the benefits that blockchain can bring to the private sector and economy. In an April 17 CNBC interview, Andrew Griffith, the economic secretary to the U.K. Treasury, said the long-term vision is to “let firms make the most of the opportunities from crypto assets” with sound crypto regulation. For the first time in “decades,” Griffith claimed, the U.K. government is now well-positioned to regulate crypto in a “pragmatic” and “proportionate” manner. He also appeared to make reference to the U.K.’s exit from the European Union: “I think over the next 12 or so months is the window. We’ve got this great asset in the U.K., we’ve got control back of a rule book — not something the U.K. has had for decades — so we’ve got the ability to move in an agile and proportionate way.” It led the lawmaker to assert that the U.K. is now in a “growth” mindset to maximize the economic efforts brought by tech innovation in the private sector. Griffith explained the crypto regulatory framework would mix existing financial asset laws with new crypto-specific rules. “Wherever possible we want to see the same asset regulated in the same way, but there are some additional opportunities in the crypto asset or distributed ledger space and we want to take advantage of that.” He cited settlement using fiat-backed cryptocurrencies as an example which was included in the financial services bill. “So that's coming even sooner than the broader regulatory framework,” he added. Coinbase’s crypto hub aspirations for Britain are in line with the views of Prime Minister Rishi Sunak, who explained last year while serving as finance minister that he would like to see the U.K. become a crypto hub. Dubai, Singapore and recently Hong Kong are some regions that have made pushes to become crypto hubs. The United States, on the other hand, has considerably stepped up crypto-related enforcement action since Gary Gensler was sworn in as chair of the Securities Exchange Commission in April 2021.

Rep. Davidson to introduce legislation to fire SEC boss Gensler for crypto overreach

Hey guys We all know SEC and their Chairman Gary They have been a pain in the ass for crypto users and tokens too. It’s really hard to be expecting a bull  run when Gary keeps hovering like a fly above faeces 💀 And now a messiah has come with a solution on how to completely throw him off🤭 Read more below: A U.S. Representative has declared he will introduce legislation to have SEC boss Gary Gensler removed from his role. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) chair Gary Gensler could be facing unemployment after United States Representative Warren Davidson declared he would introduce legislation to fire the SEC boss. In an April 15 tweet responding to Coinbase’s legal chief, Paul Grewal, the crypto-friendlyRepresentative announced his intention to have Gensler removed from his role after the SEC's latest announcement about revisiting the proposed redefinition of an "exchange."  "To correct a long series of abuses, I am introducing legislation that removes the Chairman of the Securities and Exchange Commission and replaces the role with an Executive Director that reports to the Board (where authority resides)," Davidson tweeted. "Former Chairs of the SEC are ineligible," he added. Gensler said in an April 14 meeting the proposed rule amendments could benefit investors and markets by bringing certain brokers under additional regulatory scrutiny as well as "modernizing" rules that define an exchange.  Similar amendments were proposed in January 2022. At the time crypto advocacy groups suggested it was an overreach of the SEC's authority that could jeopardize participation in the space. SEC commissioner Hester Peirce, known as "Crypto Mom" for her pro-crypto positions, criticized the new proposed rule amendments in an April 14 statement declaring "stagnation, centralization, expatriation, and extinction are the watchwords" of the latest move by the SEC. "Rather than embracing the promise of new technology as we have done in the past, here we propose to embrace stagnation, force centralization, urge expatriation, and welcome extinction of new technology," Peirce said. Read all about it . With the link below 👇🏽  Do you possibly think Gary could be removed? And what effect do you think his removal will have on the market ?

Elon Musk Offers One Million Dogecoin for Evidence Regarding the "Emerald Mine Rumor"

Hey Noobs  How’s it going Hope we good? So about Elon Musk Well recently there’s a rumor about something owned by his family in the past, it seems to have spiked his interest and he is offering a reward  A Million dollars worth of Dogecoin🤭 That’s a lot of money 😏 Read details below; Technology prodigy and genius, Elon Musk is offering $1 million dogecoin to anyone who provides him with hard evidence of the existence of the "Emerald Mine" which was rumored to have been owned by Musk's family in the past. Elon Musk makes the headlines once more and this time he's willing to offer a million dogecoin, to anyone with proof that his family ever owned an emerald mine. According to The New York Post, the South African-origin tech genius was born into an upper-middle-class family in Pretoria. Maye, his mother worked dual jobs - she was a model and a dietitian, whereas, his father worked in multiple fields, including that of an engineer and property developer. The fact that his father was involved with property development insinuated the fact that he may have owned an emerald mine in Africa. The rumor started after a Forbes interview in 2018 was brought to light in which Musk mentions that his dad "had shares in an emerald mine in Zambia". To add fuel to the fire, the interview has been removed from the website. Yet there exists an archive of it that leaves fans pondering over the cause of it being archived and not completely taken down if it was really fake. Fact-checkers verified claims and found no grounded evidence of the existence of such a mine owned by Musk or his family.   Although this rumor hasn’t had any effect on the price of dogecoin But  probably when he is about to give out such reward, it just might have that effect 🤭 Anyone have an idea about this?🤷🏼‍♂️ I could really use a million dollars🤭😂

Apple Fixes Crucial Bug That Could Lead to Cryptocurrency Theft

Hey Noobs We know that cryptocurrency theft is one of the most notorious if not the most notorious form of theft in the world It’s fast and untraceable, except with centralized exchanges  But I mean the thieves aren’t dumb🤷🏼‍♂️😂 So Apple has taken it upon theirselves to help out their customers who are in possession of cryptocurrency 🙂👇🏽 Read more below Apple has recently rolled out crucial security updates for iOS 16.4.1 and iPadOS 16.4.1, targeting two critical vulnerabilities that have been exploited. These vulnerabilities impact IOSurfaceAccelerator and WebKit, enabling arbitrary code execution on iPhones and iPads. It is vital for cryptocurrency holders and wallet applications to be aware of these vulnerabilities, as they could potentially result in the loss of funds. The IOSurfaceAccelerator vulnerability could allow hackers to execute arbitrary code on a device with system privileges. This means that an attacker could potentially access sensitive information stored on the device or even take control of the device itself. In the context of cryptocurrency wallets, this could lead to unauthorized transactions, loss of private keys or other sensitive data related to the user’s cryptocurrency holdings. Similarly, the WebKit vulnerability poses a significant risk for users of cryptocurrency wallets. WebKit is the engine that powers Apple’s Safari browser and many other third-party browsers on iOS. An attacker could exploit this vulnerability to execute arbitrary code within the context of a browser, potentially compromising any sensitive data stored or entered in browser-based wallet applications or other cryptocurrency-related web services. Remember guys it’s called a “PRIVATE KEY” for a readon Stay SAFU❤️

Citi Report Says Inflection Point for Crypto Adoption Is Here

Analysts at global investment bank Citi believe the digital asset space is approaching an inflection point that could eventually see the mass adoption of blockchain technology. The experts claimed that the rise of central bank digital currencies (CBDCs) and the tokenization of real-world assets would power this transition. Despite the growing adoption of crypto and other decentralized finance innovations like non-fungible tokens (NFTs) and the metaverse, the underpinning blockchain technology is yet to find massive adoption. According to Citi analysts, this could change when blockchain has more than a billion users who use the technology frequently. “This is likely to be driven by the adoption of central bank digital currencies (CBDCs) by large central banks as well as tokenized assets in gaming and blockchain-based payments on social media,” the experts wrote in a report titled “Money, Tokens, and Games: Blockchain’s Next Billion Users and Trillions in Value.” The report estimated that more than $5 trillion of CBDCs could be circulating globally by the end of this decade. This would give almost 2 billion people the opportunity to experiment with digital currency, Citi said. CBDCs are digital money issued by central banks and pegged to fiat currencies. Currently, 65 countries are in the advanced stage of CBDC development, and more than twenty central banks have launched their pilots, including China, Brazil, Japan, and Russia. The bank added that the tokenization of real-world assets could further drive the adoption of distributed ledger technologies like blockchain. It predicted that tokenization could grow by 80x in private markets and reach almost $4 trillion in value by 2030. Tokenization is the process of representing physical and traditional financial assets as digital tokens on a blockchain. Tokenized assets can be bought, sold, and traded just like securities and offer a range of benefits. Some advantages of tokenization include increased liquidity, faster settlement, lower costs, and bolstered risk management. In short, tokenized assets lower entry barriers, offering a more comprehensive range of investors access to real-world assets more efficiently and securely. In September last year, global consulting firm BCG estimated that the cumulative size of tokenized assets globally could reach a staggering $16 trillion by 2030. This represents a more than 50,000% growth compared to $310 billion in 2022. There has also been some adoption among major banks. For instance, a group of 12 banks that include the Bank of America and Citi are exploring tokenizing liabilities. Meanwhile, Citi analysts noted that blockchain needs to improve vastly to be successfully adopted into the mainstream. More specifically, the technology needs transaction scale and throughput, strong security guarantees, on-chain identity, privacy, Oracles, bridges, and good user experience. “The legal plumbing also needs to be altered to enable smart legal contracts that will provide a whole new set of rails for global commerce and finance to run on. Regulatory considerations are also necessary to allow adoption and scalability without the hindering innovation.” Finally, Citi experts claimed that mass adoption could take another six to eight years. However, with governments and major institutions launching trials and proofs of concept, tokenization is set to find growing adoption. Try to spread the awareness of Crypto daily to those around that don’t know🤭Educate, and save !!🥰 Have a good day  everyone  Cheers☀️ Priest

CFTC sues Binance, CZ for ‘calculated’ violations of US regulations

Hey guys What’s good So we know Binance and it’s CEO popularly known as CZ Well you know there’s this thing of legitimate rich men always being involved in one fraudulent case or the other, Binance and it’s CEO have been under so much heat since the year begun🤔 Might be just false allegations, but even if they are false, why so many enemies? Now Binance is being sued😮‍💨 Read more below  Binance has been slapped with a civil suit accusing the world’s largest digital asset exchange of taking a “calculated, phased approach” to violate U.S. commodities regulations. On Monday, the Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC) filed a civil suit in the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Illinois against multiple Binance entities, as well as its founder Changpeng ‘CZ’ Zhao and its former chief compliance officer Samuel Lim. The CFTC says the accused “violated core provisions” of the Commodity Exchange Act (CEA) and CFTC regulations governing commodities trading by, amongst other crimes, offering unregistered derivatives products to U.S. customers. The suit seeks disgorgement, civil monetary penalties, permanent trading and registration bans, and a permanent injunction against further such violations. CFTC Chairman Rosnim Behnam said: “For years, Binance knew they were violating CFTC rules, working actively to both keep the money flowing and avoid compliance.” Gretchen Lowe, deputy director of the CFTC’s enforcement division, added that “the defendants’ own emails and chats reflect that Binance’s compliance efforts have been a sham and Binance deliberately chose – over and over – to place profits over following the law.” While we encourage you to read the entire suit, our coverage will focus on Lowe’s reference to the defendants’ communications. Without disclosing their methods, the CFTC somehow managed to obtain a litany of internal Binance communications, including private chats and the contents of CZ’s own phone. The suit notes that these communications show that CZ is “responsible for all major strategic decisions, business development, and management of the Binance enterprise,” including “whether and how to implement and enforce anti-money laundering (AML) controls and Know Your Customer (KYC) procedures.” CZ’s hands-on involvement isn’t limited to high-level decisions. The suit cites him personally approving a $60 office furniture expense in January 2021. The CFTC spells it out plainly: “Zhao answers to no one but himself.” Late Monday, CZ issued a blog postslamming the CFTC’s “unexpected and disappointing civil complaint,” which he claimed contains “an incomplete recitation of facts.” The rest of the post is Binance’s standard ‘Non-compliance? Us? Never!’ schtick, insisting that its compliance efforts are second to none, yada yada yada. But on-chain data shows plenty of Binance customers frantically hammering the ‘withdrawal’ button on fears that other federal agencies—including those able to file criminal charges—may be prepping their own bombshell releases. One possible impact of Monday’s news was a U.S. federal court temporarily overruling a bankruptcy court’s decision to permit the acquisition of Voyager Digital’s assets to Binance.US. Late Monday, U.S. District Judge Jennifer Rearden granted the U.S. Department of Justice’s emergency application for a stay of the Bankruptcy Court’s confirmation order for the DoJ to pursue its appeal of the order. Would love to know your thoughts in this Let’s discuss👇🏽

Coinbase to Start Donating to Pro-Crypto Candidates in US Elections

Hey Noobs How’s it going. Advocacy for cryptocurrency keeps pumping That’s a good sign yeah🥳 Recently Coinbase have taken it up a notch in pushing the crypto name Read below Coinbase CEO, Brian Armstrong, has stated the exchange’s intention to start donating to pro-crypto candidates in US elections. Moreover, the statement arrives a day after the company received a Wells Notice from the US Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC).  Specifically, Armstrong urged crypto users to “elect pro-crypto candidates.” Additionally noting that the exchange would be working to organize crypto users to support candidates who could positively impact the industry as a whole. Since its inception, the issues between the digital asset industry and regulation have been a constant discourse. Now, as the SEC has ramped up its enforcement action against crypto companies, one of the largest US exchanges has taken a stand to speak for the industry in the political sphere.  Specifically, Coinbase CEO, Brian Armstrong, has announced the exchange’s intention to start donating to pro-crypto candidates in US elections. Moreover, Armstrong called on listeners of a recent Twitter Space to begin using their voice in the political realm.  “What we’re going to do is start putting out content where people can contact their congressman, donate to pro-crypto candidates, show up at town halls, make your voice heard,” Armstrong stated. “We are going to elect pro-crypto candidates in this country to make sure that our success is ensured.”  The decision follows Coinbase reception of a Wells Notice from the SEC, preceding potential enforcement action taken against the exchange. Consequently, following a long line of companies in the regulator’s crosshairs, political action seems to be the best route forward for hte industry.

How Bitcoin is benefiting from the banking crisis; Russia Underground Mining Exposed

Hey Guys How’s it going tofay The Russian Authority keep working tirelessly to eradicate such personnel’s aiming to spoil the name “Russia” Well I came across a post that just might interest you 🙋‍♂️ Read below; Authorities and power utilities in various Russian regions have shut down illegal crypto mining farms, seizing hardware and taking operators to court. The action against the coin minting facilities comes amid discussions on a proposal to introduce criminal liability for miners breaking the upcoming legislation for the industry. ‘Underground’ Crypto Mining Farms Shut Down Across Russia Police and power suppliers have uncovered and dismantled illegal crypto mining installations in Siberia and Southern Russia, local crypto news outlets reported this week, quoting authorities. In one of the cases, the organizers of a mining enterprise have been charged with stealing large amounts of electricity. Employees of Rosseti North Caucasus found a fairly large improvised mining farm in Shpakovsky district of the Stavropol Krai. Together with law enforcement, they confiscated 66 ASIC miners, the region’s power electric company announced on Friday. A resident of the village of Nadezhda, who placed the equipment in his house and connected it to the grid, may now face criminal liability for running the underground facility. Power engineers have estimated that it burned 954,000 kWh of electricity for over 6 million rubles ($78,000). Source: Rosseti A similar installation was discovered in the attic of a school in the town of Shelekhov, Irkutsk Oblast, when police responded to a report by the local power utility about unusually high electricity consumption and noise coming from the roof of the building. Officers seized 25 mining units which had been installed by the school’s electrician and a friend of his who was an IT specialist. Such cases are quite common in the Siberian region, dubbed the mining capital of Russia, where many people mine in basements, garages and dachas, trying to make a buck using subsidized electricity in residential areas. According to a report in February, over 1,000 lawsuits have been filed against at-home crypto miners in Irkutsk. This week, the Prosecutor’s Office of Tomsk, another Siberian oblast, announced it has approved the indictment in a criminal case against seven local residents who organized to illegally connect several premises with crypto mining equipment to the grid. They are accused of causing damages to the power supplier for an estimated 24 million rubles (over $310,000). The latest examples of Russian authorities clamping down on unauthorized mining come as lawmakers and government officials are preparing to resubmit a revised bill designed to regulate the activity. Amendments introducing criminal liability and harsh penalties for so-called “gray” miners who evade taxation sparked reactions from the crypto industry. I really hope the criminals get what they truly deserve in terms of punishment🤷 These acts keep happening across the world and not just Russia. It’s the right thing to not be. Involved in illegal mining of Bitcoin. Crypto scams are already enough as it is Let’s be safe out there! Cheers❤️ Priest

Microsoft Edge could soon have a crypto wallet

Barely a month passes by without Microsoft introducing another new feature in its Edge web browser. Just in the past couple of months, Microsoft introduced or launched the Bing Discover button, Super Video Resolution, Microsoft Secure Network, Text Prediction and Microsoft Edge Drop. Some of these features landed in stable versions of Edge, others were introduced to some testers. Twitter user Albacore discovered the latest feature that Microsoft is working on integrating in the company's Edge web browser: a crypto wallet. The native feature is a "non-custodial crypto wallet" that offers a simplified experience and "integrated security features" that protect users from insecure addresses or apps, according to Microsoft. Testers who are selected by Microsoft for the test may create a new wallet or restore a wallet. Microsoft walks them through a series of introductory pages that explains the functionality and sets up everything in the browser. The feature is managed via the internal edge://wallet/ address. It is currently used in Edge to display Microsoft Rewards points, offers, passwords and memberships. The new crypto wallet is accessed via edge://wallet/crypto, but it needs to be unlocked by Microsoft before it becomes available, even in the latest Microsoft Edge Canary builds. The crypto space holds a lot of opportunities and we’re yet to access them Link below to read full article;

Coinbase To Relist XRP Immediately After Ripple Win? Here’s When

Hey guys How’s it going Well as most of you know, there’s been an ongoing case of SEC vs Ripple. It’s been going on for as long as possible Most traders believe this is one of the reasons Crypto is still in its winter season🤔 However coinbase says they will relist  CRP if or after they win the case🙋‍♂️ Read more below; If Ripple wins against the US Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) in its legal battle, a relisting of the XRP token on the largest American crypto exchange Coinbase will be one of the biggest stories within the XRP community. In a new interview, Paul Grewal, Chief Legal Officer (CLO) at Coinbase has now spoken in detail about the issue and explained what the process of a XRP relisting will look like. Coinbase had suspended trading of XRP in January 2021, shortly after the SEC filed its case, and has since kept the token suspended despite vocal demands from the XRP community. In yesterday’s interview with Thinking Crypto host Tony Edward, Grewal expressed his optimism for a Ripple win, but also stressed that a relisting does not depend solely on the question of a victory at trial court. Coinbase CLO Sees Strong Case In Favor Of Ripple “I know that for many XRP holders it has been frustrating that they have not been able to trade their assets on Coinbase while this SEC case has been pending,” said Grewal, who went on to say that the SEC has not stopped Coinbase from carefully monitoring the status of the litigation. Like everyone else, Grewal is eagerly awaiting a ruling, praising the work of Ripple’s lawyers in the highest terms: “I certainly paid attention to the fact that the defendants in this case have done a masterful job of pushing the SEC and raising serious questions about the SEC’s entire theory.” This also prompted Coinbase to file an amicus brief in support of several of Ripple’s defenses. Ripple CLO Stuart Alderoty and the others at the fintech company have done an “incredible job,” according to Grewal, which is why he’s confident the court’s decision will be in Ripple’s favor. We’ll see that the SEC theories have serious issues. I think the briefing in this case has been excellent and we are all going to find out soon what the trial judges think of the arguments. However, the Coinbase CLO also stressed that in his opinion the decision of the Southern District Court of New York will only be the first step in a longer process. Grewal believes it is very likely that both sides in the case will appeal, regardless of who wins in court. On a possible timeline of a relisting after the decision by the trial court, Grewal said that it depends on the grounds of the ruling, the judge’s legal reasoning and Coinbase’s assessment of whether or not the appeals court will uphold the decision.
