Malaysian Bitcoin holders should not get excited by the call by the deputy minister to make Bitcoin legal tender.

The  call is made by the minister as his personal opinion rather than that of the government of Malaysia.

The call is inconsistent with the stand of the central bank of Malaysia, Bank Negara Malaysia.

Moreover the portfolio of the minister is for  Multimedia and Communication, a ministry that is irrelevant to cryptocurrencies.

If the call was made by the minister of finance or the minister of economic affairs in the Prime Minister's department, it would carry more weight.
