This article in the BBS help section explains "channels". The TLDR:

What is a channel on BBS?
Think of BBS "channels" as categories within a single BBS page, also called "board", e.g. our WLPOND.

What is the purpose of channels and why are they interesting?
"The idea behind a channel is not only to better organize a BBS into subcategories but also to incentivize community members to take a greater role in the community. Channel owners have incentive to drive traffic to their channel, benefiting both themselves, the BBS owner and the community as a whole.

Who can create a channel? And channel rules.
Any user can create a channel on a BBS page - within the community guidelines of that page (see "About" tab on the board). For our WLPOND this means the channel must be relevant to Wonderland or crypto and must not already be covered by another channel, it must be a unique new category. Off-topics may be approved if the community shows an interest in the topic, i.e. engages.

After you have created a channel, contact a moderator and apply to for moderator status. More info on becoming a moderator is here. This step is essential as someone will have to manage your channel. If you don't want to become a moderator, don't create a channel.

New channels start with a test period of two weeks after which moderators will check to see if the channel hosts valuable content and if the community has demonstrated interest. Channels without engagement or which violate community guidelines will be removed.

What can you earn from a channel?
"Whenever a post is purchased in a given channel, that channel owner will earn ⅓ of the purchase price." These earnings are non-cashable, but can be used to purchase posts, which in turn may generate cashable earnings.

How do I create a channel?
Go to the post tab of the BBS board and click on "create post". On the post edit form, click on "channels" and scroll to the bottom of the channels list. This will reveal a button at the very bottom that reads "create channel". Click on this button.

This takes you to the channel edit page. Fill in the fields and click on "create new channel" - done!

Note that your channel may be edited or deleted by mods if it does not align with community rules.

How to create a channel menu? And earn more.

The UI on BBS currently offers no search or navigation. Therefore, I recommend using the "pinned post" as a workaround to provide an overview of your channel and easier navigation. This is essential to evergreen content, e.g. guides, educational topics, FAQs etc.

In categories with fast-moving user-generated content, there may be no need or no use for a menu, e.g. memes. However, make use of the pinned post to highlight featured content such as the post of the day or a list of most successful posts.

That said, here's how you would create a menu, table of content or list of topics

    - create a post which contains your table of contents or list of featured posts,

    - make sure you have selected the relevant channel for your post,

    - pin this post to the top of your channel (three dots in the top right corner, select "pin post"),

    - link back to your "menu" on all or the most important posts in your channel by adding a line of text at the bottom, e.g. ">>> return to channel menu >>>". Select this text with your cursor, select the hyperlink option and insert the URL of your menu post (this can be found by clicking on the "share" option at the bottom right of the post or copy the URL in your browser's web address field at the top).

Creating these cross-links between posts will help users find valuable content and improve the user's experience in the community by creating clear, frustrationless navigation. Let's help everyone enjoy their time in our pond! Try to organise your channel as best you can.
This will also generate additional traffic (= impressions = potential ad revenue) for interlinked posts. Posts without traffic-generating links are likely to get buried in pond nirvana as new posts are published. Make sure your best content is discoverable.
