What is BBS?
- BBS (Bulletin Board System) is a network of message boards similar to Reddit but built on blockchain.
- It can be used for content sharing, video streaming & blog writing in a decentralized way that rewards creators of the content, curators and admins.
- Like Reddit, anyone can create a BBS on any subject - but unlike Reddit, every BBS can run on its own unique domain (Just like nodes do in BTC network), while still linking to all the other BBSes
- Every post made on a BBS is actually an NFT that users can buy, sell, and even lease while collecting ad revenue generated from any post they own. This system incentivizes high-quality content and also ensures that posts can’t be manipulated with fake “upvotes” and “comments”, since these actions have a token cost associated to them.
- BBS puts the power in the hands of the users, and not the platform
There is essentially no moderation here, You can post anything at your will (Granted u do not violate your community guidelines, else it will end up with you being banned in that specific community or Site domain)
However, you cannot be banned from the entire BBS network, you can join a suitable community/Domain that allow the type of posts you wanna do (Yes even NSFW, but do not post it here anywhere on bbs.market site!).
This is the main advantage of Decentralized BBS network over reddit, Every user here is Immutable and unbannable for the entire Network (You can be banned in communities/Domains though).
If the network is Immutable, Why are admins able to ban users!
- Different communities are created for different audiences, as a result same content would be appreciated in one community while flagged irrelevant in another.
- A lot of communities like inclusion of minors and other people that are sensitive to Hate Speech, abusive language and NSFW.
- Also there are spammers who fill in the Home page with Trashy posts!
- So, in order to regulate and maintain the communities in usable state the admins and moderators need to ban and restrict such misbehaving users!
