Dear BBS community, 

Another edition for The Weekly Chat ended yesterday , Sunday 22 May 2022. 

The main topics we have discussed were about the new updates regarding The End of Quarter Staking Rewards , the  Engagement Mining and Growth Seeding Criteria, the quality of the Meaningful Engagement around the boards and how the successful communities can help the small ones to grow.   

End of Quarter Staking Rewards and Restaking Rewards

Last week it was the end of quarter staking rewards and for those who have withdrawn their BBS and staked was so exciting to claim their rewards. 

There have been some bugs, but people do not have to be concerned about them. 

K_blomen, for example, was not allowed to restake. That is another bug, but I don't know if it applies to other people. 

So if someone else has experienced this, you are welcome to share in the comments. 

The sad part is that you still have to pay a small fee for restacking. This disappointed all of us as it was expected to be free of charge to restake your BBS. 

 Despite this, people are going to restaking  their BBS  again and again. The majority is looking to the big picture and wish to accumulate more and more. 

By restaking your BBS you  have the power of  vote and increase it , for a shorter or longer period, depending if you stake on a quarter or for example if you are staking for 3 years you have 4x power to vote. 

 The staking is calculated based on how many people stake. So again if you stake more BBS you get more power. 

New criteria for Engagement Mining and Growth

There have been some updates regarding the Engagement Mining and Growth for the small communities.

The new updates require that a board/community have to have more specific topics and based on that they are approved/whitelisted for the engagement mining. 

Derfor some of the communities, like BBSMATES OR SHARE IT had to change their topics and make more precise ones.

One new board with a specific topic - BBSSPORTS - has just been created. This community together with MWATALK  or Crypto Banter are the ones with a very specific subject of engagement and it looks like BBS tries to support this more and more. 

The quality of the Meaningful Engagement

  The adminns from the board together with their moderators are trying to encourage people that they should be aware to get engaged with better comments in the posts.

This will increase the engagement in a post, but thinking to the future the best comments will be rewarded ( Eyal mentioned that this is a future plan for BBS). SO WHY NOT TO START WRITE BETTER AND QUALITATIVE COMMENTS to get trained for being rewarded? 

Personally, I am thinking of rewarding the best comment in a post. Just tag me in your post if you have a qualitative engagement in the comments. 

Meta Engagers have settled some suggestion rules about the engagement in the comments and because of this the engagement dropped down this week. That means people stopped using too many emoji or wrote short words like : nice/good post. 

My opinion is that it actually increased the quality of the engagement and is just a matter of time until the engagement will grow up. 

We know that there is a language barrier for some people and if someone feels that adding more to a comment in a post is free to write in her own language. The admins and  moderators are willing to translate it if it is a good comment.  

If we want we can change and be better at this. We just have to find the right way. 

How can the larger and successful boards help the small communities to grow?

First we need to look at the big picture and there is a strong quote that is very often used in BBS  ( especially by  LGuigs )‘’IF YOU WANT TO GO FAST, GO ALONE. IF YOU WANT TO GO FAR GO TOGETHER’’.

This fits so well to BBS, because all the communities have to stay strong together and help/support each other to grow.

Chassp123, ChickenJohhny, Mehulbanterfam, LGuigs, CryptoRasta, Kalyan are the few admins that agreed that they are willing to help and support each other to apply for Engagement Mining and Growth Seeding.
