People that you have lost contact with may recognise you and reconnect with you. It also minimize the risk of mistaken identity.Some people pose or dress in ways that draw attention.If you are a stunner or beautiful, using a photo is a good idea. Using my photo 🧟is a big No-No for me. It may cause people to vomit, turn off their device or crack the screen of your device People who do not want to be recognised used images or Avatars. There can be valid reasons for not wanting to be identifiable. There are also people with bad motives for using an avatar eg a male pretending to be a female.An icon is a small sign or picture on a computer screen that is used to start a particular operation. Using an Icon to enable people to reach your profile is an appropriate use of the termAll the 3 terms , profile picture, avatar, and icon can be used for the image we use.In my postI used icon to refer to my profile picture.I have decided to use VI or Visual Identity to refer to the 🦋 inside a green circle of leaves that represents me. 😃There is a story behind this decision.I was tickled by a Chinese drama I watched. In the drama a friend of a village girl tried to get her appointed to a senior position in a large public listed company that owned luxury hotels.During the first executive meeting she attended she was asked to comment on the VI and some other aspects of a proposed project.Her ignorance was exposed because she did not know what VI and the other marketing jargon meant.The terms had to be explained to her before she could express her opinion.After that meeting she was demoted from her executive position to that of a cleaner in the house keeping department.So using VI is a fun way of refering to a 🦋that still cannot fly properly 😃😃
