Shrove (pancake) Tuesday

Today is Shrove Tuesday in the Christian world, or Pancake day in my house 😂 Shrove Tuesday marks the last day before Lent, when Christians give up a valued item from chocolate to tech, for 40 days. It leads the faith towards Easter and reminds of Jesus' 40 days and 40 nights in the desert. The idea to make pancakes on Shrove Tuesday traditionally came from a pre-lent clear out, the need to remove fatty, sugary foods from the house. And so, we make pancakes and have some nice toppings as a special treat. 

I made my kids chocolate chip pancakes and for toppings they chose maple syrup, sprinkles, strawberries and raspberries. Yum!
