If the words of a writer tells a story, the reader "hears" the story.

If the writer can use words to paint pictures in the mind of readers, the writer can show the readers what is going on in the story.

If the pictures painted are in the form of a senseround movie (do you remember certain movies that have to be watched in cinemas with speakers that are so loud at certain parts of the movie that you can feel vibrations) the reader can hear, see and feel sounds, colours, images and feel the emotions of the characters of the story.

The picture painted by the writer is worth more than a thousand words that merely tell a story.
