One of the wildest areas in Romania, the Carpathian Mountains are also home to some of the last remaining virgin forests in Europe. The climate is temperate and marked by four distinct seasons. In the capital, Bucharest, summer temperatures regularly reach the mid-30s, while in winter they drop well below zero.
