Atlas 2024

 (Sci-fi/Action)

I thoroughly enjoyed the film; albeit not extraordinary, it provided ample enjoyment, largely due to Jennifer Lopez's outstanding performance and the exciting action sequences.

The storyline was commendable, with emotional peaks, especially the finale that moved me to tears, and even my sister across the room. This movie certainly has moments capable of evoking feelings. In terms of acting, my opinions are mixed. While some actors delivered lackluster performances, others were remarkably good or decent.

For instance, Abraham Popoola's portrayal of a robot seemed overly inspired by the T-800 from the Terminator franchise, with his stone-faced demeanor and unaffected response to being shot at, which came off as unconvincing. Simu Liu, who played the main villain, a robot terrorist, had a more successful performance, despite initial uncertainty about his character.

However, during the climactic fight with Jennifer Lopez, he truly shone, albeit his character bore striking similarities to Marvel characters, due to his fighting style and damage wounds, which resembled the ALIEN franchise robots, even down to the milk-like substance seeping from his injuries and his manner of speaking. As a result, viewers might speculate about a connection to the ALIEN Franchise, as they did with Blade Runner.

Jennifer excelled in action roles, embodying a physicality that suited the demanding nature of such portrayals.

Her character's compelling narrative explored her conflict with AI, stemming from a traumatic past that shaped her fears. However, her eventual reconciliation with the robotic suit's AI hinted at a deeper significance.

The film's humor provided moments of levity, while the CGI effectively depicted the futuristic elements. However, some sequences resembled game graphics.

The alien planet Jennifer visited resembled Pandora from the 'Avatar' movies, albeit with less vibrant colors. Her presence in a robotic suit on this planet evoked similar imagery to the villainous avatars in 'Avatar.'

Despite its lack of originality, the film's blend of elements from 'Avatar,' 'Terminator,' 'Alien,' and 'Iron Man' entertained. While a sequel seems unlikely, a Netflix series based on Jennifer's character could potentially expand on the film's narrative.
