AD ASTRA

Astronaut Roy McBride undertakes a dangerous mission across the solar system to uncover the truth about his missing father and a series of strange power surges. The vastness and emptiness of space is unimaginable for many, if not all. What if we lived in a time when space travel was as easy as flying? How do we react when space exploration encounters loneliness and humanity's curiosity about the unknown? Personally, Ad Astra created a wave of emotions in me and made me question our future. With current advances in space technology and increasing interest in our galaxy (and other galaxies), have we stopped to think about what lies ahead? We always think about what will happen next or what we might find, but we also need to look inside ourselves and ask ourselves why we are doing all this at a time when we almost never know what will happen to our minds and bodies. Despite never being someone who gets emotional or even sheds tears, this movie exceeded my expectations and made me cry like no other movie before. When I put myself in the actor's shoes, I almost feel like I am right there with him, walking alone in an empty but endless field, only the light from plants or stars so distant it's like a night light. When you look back and think about what you have left in the world, the world is not as beautiful as you want it to be I want everyone to watch this movie, just for the fun of it, so that no one can reproduce it or find another way to see the lifestyle of people we have met once or twice in our lives. in our own little special way. I remember going to see this movie with a friend when it came out. He fell asleep. I think that includes the experience you can get at Ad Astra. You either find it boring, empty, unsustainable and weak, or you see it as a beautiful place full of thoughts and beautiful pictures of the sun. But it is as much about space travel as it is about the relationship between a father and his son. In fact, one could argue that it is not about space travel at all, but about humanity and its unique place in the vastness of the universe. Poetic, deeply emotional and stylish. Brad Pitt also plays the role very well. I watched it again on TV a few days ago and will watch it again in the future. But it's worth watching in the theater. Overall ,It is hypnotic, wide-eyed charmer with a detailed image is stylish and desirable after recent success with the same model. A melancholic look at the troubled moments of the space age and a flowering thriller. All sunlight threatens to break the energy pulse. Brad Pitt's performance is always before your eyes and in your ears, soft-spoken like Malick. This is a very good movie, it has some exciting scenes. But those looking for science fiction should look elsewhere. This is a mental drama for patients. The Achilles heel of is the bleak ending, which feels a bit hollow given the nature of the world and the spaceman's desire to connect with his father. We expect to be a captivating movie with a slow pace of captivating horror.

The REVENANT

Hugh Glass, a legendary frontiersman, is severely injured in a bear attack and is abandoned by his hunting crew. He uses his skills to survive and take revenge on his companion, who betrayed him. For me, The Revenant is in the same category as Aronofsky's " Requiem for a Dream" and Spielberg's "Schindler's List" and is essentially a good movie, but I don't think I could watch it a second time. All of these movies have very bad situations that can be disturbing and disgusting even while watching them because they are so real and gripping. It's shocking to me to think that the events in this movie have happened or will happen. It's not that I didn't enjoy this movie. Resurrection made me wonder "How did they do this?" A talent that makes you wonder. The film is a masterpiece, with beautiful cinematography and clever camerawork. It seems the best actors to come along for the ride are the great guys who gave us Birdman: Lubezki and Inarritu. There are many long, unshot scenes scattered throughout the film, and this, along with the fact that the film relies heavily on spatial shooting and lighting quality, adds to the heightened awareness that it can surprise even the novice. The camera isn't the only important part of the film; many have praised DiCaprio's performance, but I loved Hardy's ruthless and courageous character, Fitzgerald. Of course, half of the words that came out of his mouth were not understood, but it left no doubt in my mind that instead of playing a character named Fitzgerald, Hardy put himself into the role and brought Fitzgerald to life. However, the film still has its flaws. At some points things move slowly and are laughable. One gets the impression that the film itself is proud and eager to present all the beautiful landscapes and photographs. There's also the "he shouldn't be alive" situation. Hugh Glass is a real person who survived a bear attack, but in the movies they made the man immortal. Many times I thought, "Now he must die three times so that I can enjoy this movie as much as possible." It is one of the best movies of 2015 and deserves the excitement. It's easy to see why viewer reaction would be more divided, but the low rating is too harsh for me. The visuals, acting, and acting were all excellent and even if the movie wasn't great for me, it wouldn't go below a 4 or 5. Simply put, The Revenant is the best movie of the year and a work in progress. Pure beauty. The scenes are atmospheric and the lighting is very natural, but what shines most is the intimate and immersive cinematography. Inarritu's direction is even better than his superb work on Birdman, one of the best directors of the year. Great show and everyone shows great promise. Leonardo DiCaprio won his only Oscar for his performance here, and it was well-received, full of emotion and honesty, dangerous in one of his best films and performances. Tom Hardy is good at bringing a bad attitude to his character and Will Poulter is great too. There's more to The Revenant than meets the eye. The performances are very intense and the story is deliberately paced and very simple but draws the audience into it in an intense and emotional way. Represents strong characters. The lowest price of the movie is its script, which is not bad but sometimes broken.  The natural scenery and some scenes are so simple and beautiful! The photographs are so gripping that you believe they are part of Hugh Glass's journey from wilderness to civilization. Not only did DiCaprio and Hardy deliver strong performances, but his performance as a hairy rival also showed. In terms of story, it's a bit weak for a 156 minute movie. Glass's desire for revenge is sometimes impossible because he rarely talks about his motivation, more or less. The story of a Native American looking for his daughter seemed a bit out of place and strange. We can also see the feel of the hair. This puts the glass behind them and a good leader in front of them. To me, this is just a small part of the perilous journey of the magic of glass. All my stars are just for beauty, looks and performance! But this is one of those long-running movies that people love but will never watch again!

Don't Look Up

Two low-level astronomers must go on a giant media tour to warn mankind of an approaching comet that will destroy planet Earth. In a nutshell: - Ominous - Biting -  Hilarious Cast : -  Leonardo DiCaprio -  Jennifer Lawrence - Rob Morgan  - Jonah Hill - Mark Rylance  - Tyler Perry Trailer : I understand why some people hate this movie. It seems real and shows you how stupid and insignificant we are, which is necessary today. It is also marketed as a comedy when in reality, it is merely a humorous drama based on the true depiction of human nature. Then there are those who try to tell you that what this is, and when it's a literal metaphor it has nothing to do with us. It's a mirror. Some people don't like what they see in them. I found this movie excellent with great action moments and great acting. At first,I thought the acting was too much and that someone like Steven Soderbergh was needed to direct the movie, but when I watched the movie, I realized how it was and now I believe Adam McKay is the right person for the job. I love the story as a whole, I love the way the characters and events are presented, but I love the little things, like the scene where Europe argues and says they will find their own solution.I am European and I regret to say that this sentence hit me in the heart. Or the last place to eat, which is both emotional and focused, reminding us that even that choice can be taken away from us by something as small as a virus. It's annoying that American movies are becoming more colorful these days. They don't tell stories, but they talk to each other. They are Democrat or Republican, conservative or liberal, blue or red, overpass or coastal. Don't look at this as a big deal, but the language and presentation are clearly on the long beach side. It can therefore be appreciated by those who see the world this way and are ignored or often abused by those on the other side. The audience will be divided for many reasons, but I personally find this to be the best thing about the misinformation and terrible hypocrisy of this digital age. There are bad characters and bad situations, and viewers need to approach everything with a grain of salt. I think that many film critics are probably people who are easily misled by misinformation and who themselves tend to ignore science and, in that relationship, prefer to put their shirt on rather than listen to the depth and importance of the film. This movie is a fun and it should be. Style, casting and absurdity all come together in harmony. Everything about this bad movie may not be as far from the truth as it seems. It's overly stylized, no doubt, but the disinformation vibe of Running Man, Hunger Games, Total Recall and others is true in today's world, and it's coming much sooner than many people think. Like Miracle Road, Back to the Future Part 2, Magnetic Challenge, and How This Ends, the comatose baby was born from the incredible reality and reality check of the shining big city. It's not perfect. The film could have benefited from more family development and a better score, but the low points come down to political puns and gibberish. The opposing player may also be left out; this is a performance by a non-actor. Don't expect the Color Purple or the Covered Bridge to appear here. Although,i didn't understand the plot completely,The acting in this movie is great. I love this so much, he manages to perfectly combine subtlety with sass, making fun of the nonsense of modern culture, celebrities and social media. I talked to a few people and they thought it was funny, I wouldn't say I was funny but I was really funny. I was surprised by this nonsense and thought that if the world was really facing extinction something would happen. In the face of disaster, the rich get richer! Merryl Street is the best, but the standout for me has to be DiCaprio, he's amazing and his debut scene is incredible. It's a shame because the purpose of this movie is not to divide us, but to unite us as one nation. I think it could be better in this direction. There is one detail that I think McKay got wrong. There is no way the President of the United States would use metric units like miles in a public speech. If that weren't the case, I'd give this 10 stars. Jokes aside, it's a must-watch movie.

Tar and MAESTRO !

Tar and Maestro are films that basically  give us an idea about classical music, but in the end they are just creations of people imagination. Both movies left me feeling cheated. This is because although they are marketed as music artworks, they don't seem to contain much music. In some ways, MAESTRO still a miracle. Cooper's ability to accurately capture Bernstein face and mannerisms, especially his voice and speech, is wonderful. Cooper is nearly perfect as his Bernstein reenactment of Resurrection at Ely Cathedral led to some of the most dramatic decisions that ever influenced the master direction, but truth be told, the situation was too long and difficult for any actor to handle it. Cooper deserves great praise and deserves an Oscar for Best Actor. On the other hand, Cate Blanchett performance as Lydia Tar is not as impressive as Cooper. Her acting is amateurish at best, even crude at times.   However, Tar is a very good movie too. As a psychological drama, it appealed to me more than the romantic version of The MAESTRO. Director Todd Field also deserves credit for trying to bring awareness to many of the major current musical trends. However, I think it is this extra musical feature that killed the success of both films.  In 1979 Sir Peter Shaffer made A play under the name ,Amadeus , which premiered at the National Theater in London. By 1985, it had won eight Academy Awards. In my opinion, Amadeus is still the most successful movie of all. Some complain that Schaeffer story was too much, with too many characters and too much backstory. The distortions promoted by Forman are intentional. Their beauty predisposes viewers to a feeling of oversaturation, forcing them to focus on the most real aspect of the film: the music. I'm not just talking about his music, although that's great on its own. Sir Neville Marriner won a Grammy for a solid reason.Instead, I mean his music as a whole. The film ,Amadeus ,explains what music is, how it is created, and how it manifests in the minds of those who play it. All music lovers, especially composers, need to learn Amadeus. On the contrary, Tarr and MAESTRO were more interested in the artist than the art. Of course, both films are works of fiction. While the Mastero may argue about this prescription, i think that  Tar has some real facts. While I  Focus on what's Tar experimental music is about rather than what Tar music sounds like and yes, there is a difference, although it may seem that way,it can be as good as ever. No great musician would use this idea for long; The most important tool was the ear, not the mouth. Tar tells a lot but gives little time to the audience. As a result, the meaning of what is happening is lost, and Lydia Tarr does not appear to be a leader or merchant of business and personal intrigues. In this regard, the Maestro also suffered. Why investigate Bernstein romantic relationships unless it's to turn them into music? Why not describe music as the most important thing in Bernstein life?  Although Tar is actually a fake, the Mastero was created with the support of the Bernstein family, who once had to defend Cooper use of a prosthetic nose. As for the involvement of the Bernstein family, I cannot say anything for sure. All I know is that I and many others who respect Bernstein music have moved away as a person from the Mastero who was said to have been expelled. We can't help but think that Carey Mulligan performance as Felicia Montealegre is the real star of the movie.  What Tar and Maestro have in common is that they normalize the negative attitude that emerges in today's world, that the creator is more than what he creates, and that the value of the artwork is inextricably determined by the identity of the artist. This is only true in the Bible. Audiences will not be able to attend Swan Lake because Tchaikovsky is gay, and they will not be able to attend ,Die Walkure, because Wagner is anti-Semitic. The good spirit of these composers art goes far beyond their own content. That's why their work will be remembered. But Tar and the Master will be just as memorable as Amadeus.

Tar

Renowned musician ,Lydia Tar is days away from recording the symphony that will elevate her career. When all elements seem to conspire against her, Lydia's adopted daughter Petra becomes an integral emotional support for her struggling mother. It is not surprising that this film is tanking at the box office since it is much too long and slow paced for the average movie. Indeed parts of it, like the agonizingly protracted opening scene where a New Yorker magazine music critic interviews the title character about her classical music esthetics, seem designed by writer/director, Tod Field as a boredom experiment wherein if you can survive it without running and screaming into the night out of sheer and utter ennui then you are worthy to see the rest of his masterpiece. Thing is, though, that a lot of this film does approach, if not encroach upon, masterpiece territory. Certain scenes, like Lydia Tar's bleak Staten Island homecoming where she summons the spirit of her mentor Leonard Bernstein in an effort to recapture the humanistic values she has lost, are genuinely heartbreaking. And the sequences that deal with Lydia's manipulation of her acolytes are difficult to watch as we see how artistic power feels even more corruptible, somehow, than the political kind, perhaps because it is a profanation of a purer space. And I think we can all agree that Cate Blanchett is a great actress! The same goes for Nina Hoss, Noémie Merlant and Sophie Cauer, who play various members of her entourage/victims. At first,it disappointed me. It is mysterious, boring and lethargic. Until i realized that what the filmmakers actually wanted.Cate Blanchett is great and deserves praise. It is the slowest of slow burns and does not hold your hand. Its narrative omits key elements of scenes that other directors emphasize. This was a stumbling block for me. It was about halfway through the movie when I realized what was happening. I believe you will enjoy the movie more if you know what it is about. The movie intentionally doesn't show the important elements of the scene or the relationships between the characters. Like putting together the puzzle of who Lydia Tar really is, you'll have to find out for yourself. Here's a simple unrelated example: Bill looked at the smoke rising from the frying pan. Bill rubbed his nose five times and was drinking coffee at Station 271 when he received a call from Ernest. If the above two sentences had been in the book, it would have been missing a major plot point that other writers would have added. First, there was a fire in Bill's kitchen. He called the fire department. The fire may have been serious because he had to evacuate. Who is Ernest if you haven't met this character yet? Why was Bill rubbing his nose so hard? Is it a tick,or a nervous habit? That's tar. This gives you all the elements between the lines and allows you to find X directly. Once I realized that this was the film's dominant cinematic approach, it became much more enjoyable and interesting. It's very worth your time if you put in the effort.

Spaceman

Six months into a solo mission, a lonely astronaut confronts the cracks in his marriage with help from a mysterious creature he discovers on his ship. In a Nutshell: - Compelling  - Heavy  - Somber  It's a little too slow and a little too philosophical. It is a psychological thriller in which a man fights with his own guilt and how he overcomes it Although,It is beautiful to look at and it features another great dramatic performance from Adam Sandler. The rest of the movie is a mixed bag with a rather lackluster story, some terrible pacing and a mostly wasted supporting cast. Spoiler: Based on Jaroslav Kalfar book Spaceman of Bohemia, the movie stars Sandler (as fictional Czech astronaut Jakub Prochazka, who is sent on a mission to edge of solar system shortly after collapse of his marriage to Lenka (Carey Mulligan). I'll say that Adam Sandler is a good actor, even a great one. When refocusing from raunchy buddy comedies with his usual crew of 90's comedian friends, he finds projects that he can truly and unequivocally blossom. With these projects becoming more prevalent for the legendary star, it only made sense to make the lateral move into sci-fi. Spaceman is something else. Soft around the edges, chillingly isolated, and moody to an almost uncomfortable degree, this film has a peculiarity that I can't quite put my finger on. Spaceman Jakub grapples with hardships that are equal parts relatable yet unimaginable. It's clear that he has been on this mission an agonizingly long time , literally floating in an emotional limbo that is ironically heavy. Aside from the harsh void, there is an internal vortex of pain, loneliness, and aimlessness that is heavy on Jakub's heart away from his partner, Lenka (Carey Mulligan). Denis Villeneuve's film Enemy comes to mind when we meet a large space spider (which Jakub names Hanus) voiced by Paul Dano, an English-speaking extraterrestrial who guides Jakub through his psyche, painstakingly examining what Jakub is truly after. The darkness is a mirror emotion of interpersonal turmoil that exists in the claustrophic tin can they inhabit would be more effective if it didn't feel like the weirdest therapy session you can think of. The effect that is desired of us feels almost forced. However, this is made up for by stellar performances by the main cast. Believability and authenticity are the main ingredients of this unusual space oddyssey. This, combined with visuals that are breathtakingly beautiful, culminate into a third act that firmly holds your heart in a moment that intersects the beauty and vastness of a universe yet to be fully embraced. It is not as complicated of a movie as it wants you to believe. Complexity of emotions and the pressures of Jakub's world almost act as a smokescreen of feelings that at times feel artificial, but the strength of the drama and cresendo of internal exploration make up for this to create a film that reminds you of Adam Sandler's potential. We are all fleeting beings in the blink of an eye, but emotions are rare. This film fails to create the tension of a space travel film and the dialogue is heavy. It may not appeal to the general public, but it is a film for those who have difficulty controlling their thoughts, fears, and emotions.Anyway, I'm glad I saw this movie and I hope to see it again soon.

The Big Short

In the mid-2000s, a few finance experts observe the instability in the US housing market and predict its collapse. Through their research, they discover the flaws and corruption in the system. The Big Short describes several of the main players in the creation of the credit default swap market who sought to bet against the collateralized debt obligation (CDO) bubble and thus ended up profiting from the financial crisis of 2007–08. Mark Baum, based on Steve Eisman, earned $1 billion from the market crash depicted in the film. Jared Vennett, based on Greg Lippmann, made $47 million from swap sales as shown in the movie. Michael Burry is an investor who profited from the subprime mortgage crisis by shorting the 2007 mortgage bond market, making $100 million for himself and $700 million for his investors. It is based on the book of the same name by financial journalist Michael Lewis. Its mostly about collateralized debt obligations, subprime mortgages, credit default swaps and bundling. It is more entertaining than most of the movies playing in theaters this holiday season. Even if you don't know much about the subprime mortgage crisis of 2007-2008, you'll enjoy this quality film and by the end of it, you'll want to know more about the global economic collapse. Movies use a variety of techniques to tell a story. There are monologues that break the fourth wall, a model explaining the economy while taking a bubble bath, and a singing idol and celebrity chef explaining the economic crisis using cooking and gambling metaphors. There are jump cuts, slow motion, foreshadowing, and flashbacks. The filmmakers use all their tricks to explain complex financial machinations to help the audience understand. Banks, mortgage brokers, credit bureaus and governments manipulate people across the country and around the world to invest in bundles of worthless bonds, and director and screenwriter Adam McKay must use every cinematic trick to explain and solve the financial corruption. The miracle is that the movie interprets the economic collapse well while entertaining the audience. The acting is excellent, from the stars to the bit players. They don't just play roles, they embody characters from important periods in history. My mom thinks Steve Carell is the best actor in movies. At first she didn't even recognize him. He was playing against character and she loved it. But my mother has never seen Carrel on The Office. His character, Mark Baum, is very similar to the boss from this TV series. But in The Big Short he plays it straight. He runs funds under Morgan Stanley (but, as his team likes to point out, it's not Morgan Stanley), and his job is to break up and expose banks and prove he was right about financial warning signs. He's betting against Morgan Stanley, the hand that feeds him. I preferred Christian Bale's performance as Michael Burry, an unselfconscious, manic math genius. I haven't seen that frightening look in Bale's eyes since American Psycho, but this time he's only killing the mortgage backed securities market. Meanwhile, Brad Pitt, under  playing another disaffected former banker, Brad Rickert, helps two friends make millions while they bet against terrible investments, or play short the mortgage market. His backstory is revealed steadily and in a way that makes us wonder why he briefly got back into the investment game."Even Ryan Gosling makes his mark in this star-studded cast playing the prescient Jared Vennett. Remember, all the characters in the film are based on real people. And that is what makes it so remarkable. The other major players in the film are Bear Stearns, Morgan Stanley, and a slew of investment houses who at best ignore the coming financial crisis or at worst, colluded in its creation. From the realtors selling the mortgages, to the banks loaning at subprime, to the banks bundling the worthless packages, they were all making too much money to want to stop. This is exactly the kind of over-exuberance that occurred in the 1920s stock market crash, but few payed attention then or in 2007. It is a dramatized film of true events. And to make sure we understand, the actors break the fourth wall several times to tell us what part is true to the detail and what part is fictionalized to make it more dramatic. But if you still doubt it, read the book. Unfortunately, the whole incident is true and we are still paying the price for it. You'll need to watch this movie at least twice to understand half of what it has to offer. This is just entertaining, educational, and relatable.

Crypto world- Margin Call (2011)

Synopsis: A financial company's management division head working on a major analysis is fired. His protege attempts to complete the analysis and finds out the true reason behind their financial downfall. In a Nutshell: Anxious, Gripping and Serious  It is absolutely based on the culture prevalent in Wall Street investment banks at that time. It is realistic partly because of the director's personal experience, but he himself says it is not meant to depict an actual real-life firm. Margin Call: A margin call is truly a demand made by a broker for an investor to deposit additional funds into their margin account. The possibility of a margin call is one of the key risks of margin trading, a strategy that allows investors to purchase securities, such as stocks, with borrowed money. What Exactly Happens: It is a movie that chronicles the early stages of the 2008 financial crisis, where an investment bank faces collapse after taking on debts too large to handle – and has to make some tough choices under pressure to avoid going bankrupt altogether. Margin Call Purpose : It is usually an indicator that the securities held in the margin account have decreased in value. The investor must choose to either deposit additional funds or marginable securities in the account or sell some of the assets held in their account when a margin call occurs. I think the movie is about how its characters are concerned only by the welfare of their corporations. There is no larger sense of the public good. Corporations are amoral, and exist to survive and succeed, at whatever human cost. It happens when the percentage of the equity in the account drops below the maintenance margin requirement. At XTB, a margin call occurs when your margin level falls below 100%. A stop out is the act of closing, or liquidating, your positions. At XTB, a stop out occurs when your margin level falls below 50%. I am not much into crypto but this was one of craziest movie i ever watched.I did Google many terms used in it and my Crypto knowledge was boosted as having the knowledge and Entertainment,What a better thing could be .  I Saw this last night. It is Set at a Wall Street firm on the night in 2008 when the leaders realize that changes in the market will wipe them out if they don't immediately stop selling the products that have been making them all rich. The movie centers on the moral dilemma ,recognized by some characters but dismissed by others that they face in unwinding their positions, saving themselves but shifting the pain to others. The movie finds a way to hold the mirror up to our civilization, showing how we are all complicit in a collective dream(one character says at one point, in response to another who says he feels like he is in a dream. Funny, hehe,it seems like I just woke up). The dream is the illusion of easy, risk managed wealth that the financial markets manufacture, again and again, since the emergence of capital markets 200 years ago, until the illusion morphs overnight into a panic. Reality intervenes, fear takes over, and the survivor is the guy who first reaches the lifeboat. So there are no villains in this movie, just people, richly drawn, beautifully acted characters realized by some of our best actors who relish the opportunity to show what they can do given a killer script and enough screen time between lines to actually be the people they are portraying.  Some Reasons that are Central to the movie's success:  1) It gets across the essence of what is going on in the financial markets without bogging us down or dumbing it down. 2) finding a moral question that can be resolved in a night, yet which is nevertheless a perfect allegory for the whole set of moral questions raised by an economy that works the way ours does, rewarding false confidence, recklessness, and deceit as often as industry, skill, and integrity.  3) The placement of young, innocent but perceptive characters at the center of the drama, who function as our eyes and ears, who are like stand-ins for all of us who weren't there, at the heart of the dream machine, when the latest fantasy of easy wealth was exposed as a collective delusion . 4) It really gets the trader ethos and manners. they are a kind of warrior caste, foul-mouthed, impulsive, deeply selfish, surviving by their ability to outplay their counterparts, and yet living by a warrior code that sets boundaries on what they will and will not do to one another (having spent three years on Wall Street several panics ago, it rang as true as any movie I have seen on the subject)  It's like Mamet, except you don't have to work as hard to figure out what everyone's up to. If you like series, suites, and office dramas, this is the same, but much more polished. Not only is the film's cast great, but most of the actors' performances are also very good. Despite there being very little direct character building, everyone is able to just pay the bills where they're coming from. These are short conversations and little incidents that help you understand who they are and what they've been through. No fancy exposition, no real gimmicks, just smart script writing and full-throttle performances. Plus, I've rarely seen a cast work as well as they do here. Everything is out of place, but at the same time, you're in the team (and that's usually the case). Everyone takes care of themselves and the team at the same time. No chivalry, no excessive sacrifices, just business.  It's definitely a thrilling adventure and perfectly captures the stress of a devastating situation like a financial crisis.

The Devil All The Time

Hy FCN Forum, This  is a  slow-burn thriller and melodrama  which excels with outstanding acting, exceptional editing, and precise cinematography. It delves into the theme of evil masquerading as good, highlighting how people commit atrocities under the guise of religion and divine right. While not condemning all religious individuals, it critiques those using faith to justify crimes. The performances provide a chilling insight into vile human minds, making the film deeply disturbing due to its real-life parallels. Despite a convoluted plot, the film is extremely well-crafted, with effective voice-over narration driving the story. Prepare for a slow descent into disturbing madness, this is unforgettable. I was pleasantly surprised by this movie's artistic quality. The story, pacing, casting, and music were all excellent. I'm glad Netflix is providing such content-driven films. Overall, I highly recommend this movie. It's engaging and worth your time. The movie, over two hours long, is a slow burn with a great story and exceptional acting from well-loved actors. They took risks and delivered something worth watching. Unlike typical monthly Netflix releases, this film will be remembered for a while. It is a highly depressing yet captivating movie, set in a southern gothic backdrop. Tom Holland's portrayal of a good man spiraling into worsening situations is central to this well-made film. A suitable choice for Netflix subscribers seeking an evening's entertainment. This also reveals unsettling behaviors, undermining trust in humanity. Religion's influence is portrayed as maddening. Despite enjoying the film's gritty atmosphere, I'm grateful for the great people I have around me afterward. There is non-linear storytelling, featuring flashbacks and forwards, enhances its dark atmosphere. Characters from different places interconnect seamlessly. Holland and Pattinson deliver brilliant performances, as do minor characters like the uncle and neighbor. The well-written characters and dialogues ensure strong audience connections. The movie is emotional without being draining, and the background music is superb. Despite its two-hour-plus runtime, it grips you until the last scene, ending satisfyingly. This Netflix original movie is a refreshing surprise with superb acting and a script featuring memorable lines. While the story is dark, it's not as grim as "The Road." The complex yet easy-to-follow plot captivates you, and the cinematography is excellent. Overall, it's a very good experience, and I highly recommend it.
