The Devil All The Time

Hy FCN Forum,

This  is a  slow-burn thriller and melodrama  which excels with outstanding acting, exceptional editing, and precise cinematography. It delves into the theme of evil masquerading as good, highlighting how people commit atrocities under the guise of religion and divine right. While not condemning all religious individuals, it critiques those using faith to justify crimes.

The performances provide a chilling insight into vile human minds, making the film deeply disturbing due to its real-life parallels. Despite a convoluted plot, the film is extremely well-crafted, with effective voice-over narration driving the story. Prepare for a slow descent into disturbing madness, this is unforgettable.

I was pleasantly surprised by this movie's artistic quality. The story, pacing, casting, and music were all excellent. I'm glad Netflix is providing such content-driven films. Overall, I highly recommend this movie. It's engaging and worth your time.

The movie, over two hours long, is a slow burn with a great story and exceptional acting from well-loved actors. They took risks and delivered something worth watching. Unlike typical monthly Netflix releases, this film will be remembered for a while.

It is a highly depressing yet captivating movie, set in a southern gothic backdrop. Tom Holland's portrayal of a good man spiraling into worsening situations is central to this well-made film. A suitable choice for Netflix subscribers seeking an evening's entertainment.

This also reveals unsettling behaviors, undermining trust in humanity. Religion's influence is portrayed as maddening. Despite enjoying the film's gritty atmosphere, I'm grateful for the great people I have around me afterward.

There is non-linear storytelling, featuring flashbacks and forwards, enhances its dark atmosphere. Characters from different places interconnect seamlessly. Holland and Pattinson deliver brilliant performances, as do minor characters like the uncle and neighbor.

The well-written characters and dialogues ensure strong audience connections. The movie is emotional without being draining, and the background music is superb. Despite its two-hour-plus runtime, it grips you until the last scene, ending satisfyingly.

This Netflix original movie is a refreshing surprise with superb acting and a script featuring memorable lines. While the story is dark, it's not as grim as "The Road." The complex yet easy-to-follow plot captivates you, and the cinematography is excellent. Overall, it's a very good experience, and I highly recommend it.
