Guy Ritchie's The Covenant

I am not big fan of war movies but luckily i gave it a try and watched this movie called "The Covenant". Before i planed to publish this post i checked if any member posted about this movie before and i was surprised that i could not find any post about it. The movie was released few months ago and was on box office for some weeks and it has very good rating of 7.5. The movie is directed by Guy Ritchie and in the main role plays Jake Gyllenhaal and Dar Salim, i must admit that even that i like Gyllenhaal a lot the actor Dar Salim played exceptional role and was main star of the movie.

Story is set during period  of war in Afghanistan, even that the story is not based on true story and is fictional, it portraits how tough were relationship between soldiers and interpreters. After local man who worked as interpreter for American army died in explosion the army assigned another local guy called Ahmed to interpret for the soldiers in the field. During the search for Taliban terrorist the team of soldiers including Ahmed were ambushed by Taliban's and all soldiers died except  Ahmed and sergeant John Kinley(Jake Gyllenhaal) who was badly injured.

Ahmed wanted to send Kinley to USA base but after several days running and killing Taliban's and sometime with help of local Afghans finally USA army finds and saves them. Kinley was brought to USA for recovery but Ahmed was forced to  hide from Taliban's because now he was most wanted man in Afghanistan. Sargent Kinley was determined to help Ahmed get Visa and come to USA but he could not do much from USA, so he decided to comeback to Afghanistan and bring him back to USA. 

No matter what movie genre you like i recommend you this movie because it is very good, it has lot of action drama and emotions. The movie took little time to build the storyline but this movie pays  best tribute to interpreters who worked for USA Army in Afghanistan and  shows the example how  they risked their life just to secure food for their family and  American Visa. 

The movie highlights physical danger of war but also tells how it leaves you with psychological scars and trauma and how difficult is for soldiers when they get back home.
