Music creation and distribution have been dramatically changed by technology in the last two decades. Creating music no longer requires a team of producers and audio engineers; anyone in their bedroom can start with inexpensive software. Similarly, distributing music no longer requires factories that produce physical records and retail relationships for getting those records into stores; music platforms have enabled artists to distribute their own music.

The Audius protocol allows artists, fans, and node operators to collectively provide a high-quality end-user music streaming experience without centralized infrastructure.

I started investigating what it was like to upload your own songs to the platform, and how you earned money on it... Which is really complex to explain in a few words, but there is a referral system and rewards for completing some simple tasks and then , $AUDIO can be won thanks to "TIPS" from other members (other musicians, listeners, members of the Audius team, etc.), there are also "Remix contests" in which, with the support of the platform team, some artists launch a song and promote it so that others can make a remix of it and then select 3 of them to give them prizes in $AUDIO or in the currency that is announced in the contest...

I personally earned some $ completing the initial tasks, but also being an active member of the Audius musician community in Spanish, for which I have received a lot of support from the Community managers team that is very active on the networks, Telegran and Discord.

I think it has tremendous potential as artists and fans have a way to give/receive $ for support or whatever, in a very direct way, something that doesn't happen on other platforms like Spotify. Also a cool aspect is that it's FREE! For artists/podcasters it's free to upload content and for listeners it's free to use the app and listen unlimitedly WITHOUT ADS!

It sounds too good to be true, but it is REAL!

For this reason and because I am a web3 musician, I have some videos on YouTube, but most of my audio content is on AUDIUS and on no other streaming platform, it is an ideological question and a revolution against the system of historical exploitation of the musicians ♥
