Marc Guehi has been England shining light at Euro 2024 this summer after Manchester United transfer target ,Jarrad Branthwaite was overlooked in Germany 26-man squad. Everton look set to take a hard line on Jarrad Branthwaite as Manchester United continue to pursue a potential deal for the England defender. But the whopping £80m fee demanded for his signature means United will have to follow Gareth Southgate gut instead.
Branthwaite is clearly a top-tier player at the moment. The 22-year-old is a familiar face to Ruud van Nistelrooy from their time together at PSV Eindhoven, and the centre-back, who grew up in part in the Eredivisie during those years, boasts a typically Dutch style of play. His comfort on the ball is a special asset and what is driving the interest of Erik Ten Hag and beyond. But £80m for a man with a first-team cap to his name is a huge sum even though United are confident he will be top class at international stage in years to come .
England were very close to Euro 2024 this summer. Despite some disappointing performances (particularly in the group stages and early knockout rounds), Southgate's Three Lions reached their second major final in three years and came closer than anyone to finally reaching the final.
England, a few steps away from sporting immortality, were eventually outclassed by a great Spanish side, leaving the boys of 1966 with a podium of their own. However, it is important to note that all the criticism and harsh criticism that comes along the way usually comes down to a lack of spark in the attacking circle.Jul 16, 2024
BBS FOOTBALL ⚽️ When Joan Monfort photographed Lionel Messi with a baby for a charity calendar almost 17 years ago, he knew the long-haired youngster was destined for a career in football. He couldn't imagine that a young boy would do something like that. The child in the photo that attracted attention is none other than Lamin Yamal, a Spanish young man, and even at just 16 years old, he is already showing potential to be compared to great people.
As the youngest player to play for the Spanish national team, he became the youngest player in the history of the European Championships at this year's tournament in Germany. Last week, a long-forgotten photo from 2007 resurfaced on Yamal's father's Instagram account with the caption: "The beginning of two legends."
Monfort, 56, who works as a freelance photographer for the Associated Press and other media outlets, said the photo shoot took place in the visitors locker room at Barcelona Camp Nou in the fall of 2007, a few months after Ramin Yamal was born. Barcelona players posed with children and their families as part of an annual charity event for local newspaper Diario Sport and UNICEF. Monfort was in charge of the shooting, with Messi paired with the family of Lamin Yamal. His mother, who is from Equatorial Guinea, is pictured next to Messi and the baby in one of the photos.
Messi was 20 at the time and already considered a big talent, but it would take a couple of years before he made his mark as the most outstanding player of his generation for Barcelona and Argentina. Like Messi, Lamine Yamal has gone through Barcelona’s renowned La Masia youth academy. Despite his age, he has been one of Spain’s best players at Euro 2024, where his team play France in the semi-finals on Tuesday. He will turn 17 on Saturday, the day before the final in Berlin.

BBS FOOTBALL ⚽️ Manchester United are set to make their first signing of the summer transfer window and could quickly make their second amid rumors surrounding Joshua Zirkzy, Sofian Amrabat and Facundo Pellistri. This off-season marks the first summer transfer window under INEOS control, and already INEOS has a say. With Erik ten Hag signing a new contract, changes are also happening to his behind-the-scenes staff.
Even in transition, there are a few ironclad cases that have caught fire. The Red Devils are keen to sign a striker and appear to have found their man in Joshua Zirkzee. Some of the club's current stars may need to be sold to secure future funds. With all this in mind, take a look at the latest transfer rumors coming out of Old Trafford over the last 24 hours.
Former Manchester United star Zlatan Ibrahimovic appears to have accidentally confirmed the signing of Joshua Zirkzy from the Red Devils. The Swede, who holds an advisory role at Milan, confirmed his side are no longer interested in the Bologna striker. He said: “He [Zirkzee] is in the past. As Paulo Fonseca said, we have a player in mind, whose name I won't reveal. There is someone. Let’s take a look.”
Milan have been linked with a move for Zirkzee with the Red Devils. However, they appear to have turned their attention to Atletico Madrid star and Spain captain Alvaro Morata. United have unveiled their new adidas home kit, along with a new shirt sponsor for the 2024/25 season, and it is available to purchase now.Jul 9, 2024
BBS FOOTBALL ⚽️ FC Barcelona will cash in if their injured midfielder, Pedri is out for more than four weeks. He injured his right quad during the first half of a La Liga match against Athletic Bilbao and memorably left the San Mames Stadium sobbing uncontrollably.
Luckily, he was able to return to action for the first time since his breakthrough 2020/2021 campaign and finish the season with Barca, which also meant he could be included in Luis de la Fuente squad for the European Championship. But a similar situation unfolded in Stuttgart as Spain and Germany began their quarter-final clash last Friday.
Just minutes after the tournament began, Real Madrid legend Toni Kroos threw the 21-year-old into the air, and he was soon seen holding back tears as he pushed him off the field. A source from the Spanish Football Federation (RFEF) told Mundo Deportivo that Pedri had sprained the medial collateral ligament of his left knee and appeared to have hit the turf when he landed.
While the retired Tony Kroos has apologized to his former rival at Barcelona in El Clasico, asking for forgiveness and saying he was a good player, Pedri's case at the Euros is over, meaning he will not be able to play in the final. The anonymous medical center explained to the medical doctor that Pedri could now be stopped for one to one and a half months due to the blow he suffered.
This will allow Barca to pay for his treatment, according to the campaign report pointed out by Sport. Under the terms of FIFA's Club Protection Plan, UEFA Shares will have to pay Barcelona around $22,000 (or €20,548) per day if Pedri is absent for more than a month.
He is expected to be sidelined for six weeks before being able to return when the La Liga season starts. This is Barca record away game against Valencia on 17 August.Jul 7, 2024
