The Bundesliga is considered by UEFA to be one of the top 4 national leagues of Europe.

These 4 countries are each allocated 4 clubs that get to play in the European Champions League. France, Portugal and Holland get 3 UCL spots each.

However I do not consider the Bundesliga to be interesting to follow because it is dominated by a small number of teams and in particular Bayern Munich.

Bayern is the most successful club in German football history, having won a record 33 national titles, including eleven consecutively since 2013, and 20 national cups, along with numerous European honours.

Dortmund was the club who most often offered a bit of competition to Bayern in the past 11 Bundesliga seasons that were won by Bayern. Bayern is also doing well this season but most likely for the first time in 12 years, they will finish as runners up instead of winning the Bundesliga.

The rise of another team to challenge Bayern is good to maintain interest in the Bundesliga which has been so predictable as to its winner for 11 consecutive years. Although it is likely that another team is likely to win the Bundesliga this season, the Bundesliga still lacks interest because the team likely to win has utterly dominated this season.

With just 9 matches for each team remaining in the current season, Bayern is in 2nd place but at a staggering 10 points behind the current leaders even though it is Bayern who has scored the most goals in the Bundesliga so far.

If Bayern continue their goal scoring pattern of 73 goals in 25 games, the projected number of goals they score after 34 games is 99.

Bayern's defensive record is also good and they currently have the 2nd lowest number of goals conceded in the Bundesliga.

How then did Bayern find themselves trailing the leader by 10! points?  The answer is that the leader has also done well in both attack and defense. In particular their defense is so strong that they conceded only 16 goals in 25 games, very often getting clean slates.

Oh by the way, the current leader in the Bundesliga is not Bayern's traditional rival, Dortmund.

Dortmund is having a so so season and is likely to finish 4th and so grab a place in next season's UCL.

The only team likely to prevent Dortmund from doing so is RB Leipzig who currently has 46 points compared to Dortmund's 47.

Neither of these 2 teams can overtake Bayern who has 57 points or the leader who has 67 points.

The other team that is extremely likely to get a UCL spot is the current 3rd place team Stuttgart who has 53 points. Should Bayern go through an unexpectedly bad spell in the remaining games, it is possible for Stuttgart to grab the runners up position.

Only if this happens can we truly say that Bayern had a bad season.

The way things are going. Bayern is having a good season but another club had a SPECTACULAR season.

Ha ha. I am being naughty 😈 and have not disclosed in this post who is having the spectacular season.

You can read some of my other recent posts to find out.

DO YOU AGREE WITH ME THAT BAYERN IS  DOING WELL THIS SEASON?
