Chelsea beat Middlesbrough 6-1 in the second leg of the semifinal of the Carabao Cup. Middlesbrough had won the first leg 1-0

In the 15th minute   Howson scored an own goal when he pushed the ball sent into the penalty area by Raheem Sterling into his own net.

Before that Armando Broja of Chelsea when contesting with the keeper headed the ball just over the net. It appears to me that he was fouled which affected his jump. DO YOU THINK THAT A PENALTY SHOULD HAVE BEEN AWARDED?

Fernandez scored Chelsea's second goal in the 29th minute to put Chelsea 2-1 ahead on aggregate.

A Disasi scored the third goal in the 36th minute and Cole Palmer added the 4th to make the half time score 4-0

Palmer showed how deadly he is by scoring again in the 72nd minute. It was his 11th goal for the season for Chelsea. Madueke made it 6-0 in the 81st minute. Rogers gave the Middlesbrough fans something to cheer by scoring a consolation goal in the 88th minute. What a contrast in between the 2 legs of the semifinal. Middlesbrough won the first 1-0 but was trashed by Chelsea 6-1 in the second. Chelsea's opponent in next month's final will be either Liverpool or Fulham. Liverpool has a better head to head record against Fulham winning 3 out of the last 5 games while Fulham won one. Liverpool won the 1st leg in January 2-1. However the outcome of the semifinal is far from certain. Fulham had taken the lead in the 1st leg before Liverpool scored 2 to get a slim 2-1 lead. In the EPL match between the 2 in December, Liverpool also had to come from behind to win a match they seem to have lost. What a thriller that match was - Liverpool scraped through 4-3. An earlier EPL match between the 2 was an exciting 3-3 draw. Fulham seems to be a team that can score against Liverpool. Another factor to consider is that Fulham is near full strength with only 1 player unavailable. Liverpool has a long list of injured players including its top scorer Salah who is temporarily back from Afcon but is unable to play because of an injury picked up while playing for Egypt. Liverpool is also without W Endo who is currently in the AFC Asian Cup for Japan Before Salah and Endo left for Afcon and Asian Cup, J Kopp had said that he hopes that they do well but not too well., 🤣. The reason is that if Egypt and Japan advances to the finals or even semifinals, Salah and Endo will be away for a long time. WILL WE HAVE A CHELSEA vs LIVERPOOL FINAL? CAN CHELSEA WIN THEIR FIRST TROPHY SINCE THE POST ROMAN ABRAMOVICH ERA? Liverpool's next EPL match against Chelsea on 1st February may be a preview of a final than fans are hoping for.
