Canada progress at Olympics despite six-point deduction over drone scandal

The canadian women’s soccer team’s best in the paris olympic field final, when they won 1-0 over colombia, although vanessa giles scored the decisive goal despite a six-point cut due to the drone spying scandal ensured their progress. The scandal involving new zealanders filming gymnastics resulted in major penalties such as a one year ban for top executives. As defending champions, canada currently faces germany, but the clash should have an impact on their fate, given the upcoming 2026 world cup.
