The Wall

This war movie is truly exceptional, with a unique and refreshing approach.

Unlike most war films, which typically feature large armies, excessive violence, and extravagant production budgets, this film focuses on just three main characters.
Two soldiers are trapped behind a wall, hunted by an Iraqi sniper during the final days of the Iraqi/Gulf War.

The plot is intriguing and offers a deep character study. Even though it features WWE star John Cena, it is not great solely because of him. The movie is realistic, as explained by a friend with experience in the field. Although some may criticize the accuracy of the shots taken, it is important to understand that they are carefully calculated.

Those giving negative reviews may not fully appreciate this. The film does a great job at showcasing both sides of the conflict and promoting dialogue between adversaries, similar to the 2002 film Phonebooth. The antagonist is both charismatic and menacing, pushing the protagonist to overcome physical and mental obstacles.

My main issue with the film is that the protagonist's growth and personal triumphs are not fully recognized before his untimely death in the final 30 seconds. Despite this, the film does a good job at keeping viewers engaged.

However, it falls short of being exceptional.
