AITA for my mom she is a mother of five daughters

In the heart of our family's story is a remarkable woman – my mom. She's the proud mother of five amazing daughters, each with their own unique spark. Yet, our family faced a challenge because my dad longed for a son to carry on the family name.

It wasn't easy for my mom. She endured moments of torment from my dad who, driven by societal expectations, wished for a son. But through it all, she displayed immense strength. Her love for her daughters became a shield against the storm of expectations.

I told one of my daughters classmates moms to f-off about what I put in my daughters lunch

(No names in this story are real.)

For some context before the story, I (38f) cook asian foods regularly for dinner and for my daughter, Lily’s (7f) lunches at school. This is because my family enjoys these foods, I like to cook these foods, and my mom cooked a bunch of these foods growing up since she’s half Japanese.

AITAH for not being on birth control while living with my boyfriend’s parents?

This is my first post ever after years of reading AITA posts, but now I need to know if IATA. I (23f) have been living with my boyfriend (22m)and his family for about 2 months. My living situation changed while my boyfriend and I were working out of state for the summer with no service so I needed somewhere to go temporarily when we got back as I wasn’t able to go back to my apartment due to issues with my landlord. My boyfriend told me I could come live in the basement apartment with him at his parents house temporarily while we save up for our own place. ( our summer job didn’t pay well at all and it was mostly the experience we went for, so we didn’t have much in savings when we returned) His parents are very involved in almost everything from our finances to our jobs and so forth. I haven’t been on birth control for about 4 years, it’s a personal decision because every birth control I have been on has affected me badly. Mostly pain wise, bleeding wise and just generally feeling awful while being on it. I was in a 3 year relationship before my current boyfriend without being on birth control and we were always super careful, always using condoms and always going to get a plan b if the condom broke or we felt uneasy like it might’ve broken or something like that. And it must be somewhat affective as I never got pregnant during this time. Me and my current boyfriend have been together for 4 months now. And we felt moving in together would work out well as we have known eachother and been friends since junior year of high school so it didn’t feel like we were rushing or anything like that. Things have been going well besides his parents being super involved in everything, it was overwhelming at first because my parents were the exact opposite but I’ve gotten used to it and have grown to appreciate it in certain areas like finance advice. Well the other day during dinner, it was just me and my boyfriends mother as my boyfriend and his dad were out for the evening. I will preface this by saying his mother has been nothing but nice to me since I moved in and we frequently run errands together and go on walks. Well out of nowhere she starts asking me questions about birth control. It took me by surprise as sex wasn’t really talked about in my very religious household growing up. It was taboo and my mother only ever told me to be smart and safe and that was it. I told his mother that I wasn’t currently on birth control and tried to explain why and she got extremely mad and upset and told me that it was disrespectful to be living there and not be on some kind of method while sleeping in the same bed as her son. And that I needed to make an appointment immediately. Now I have pretty bad anxiety so this conversation really overwhelmed me and so I just told her I was uncomfortable talking about this, but I would make an appointment and went downstairs to recuperate. I told my boyfriend when he got home and he said he sees where she’s coming from but that it was crossing boundaries to drill into me like that about it as it is our business and our sex life. We agreed though that birth control was probably a good idea and that I could go see a doctor about my options and find one that wouldn’t cause as much pain and issues as soon as my health insurance through my new job was active which would be Oct 1st. Now that’s about 2 weeks away from now which is alright with us, we aren’t nymphos so two weeks abstinence is not the end of the world. But this morning while me and my boyfriend were upstairs making food, his mom brought up birth control again and asked if I made an appointment. I told her not yet and that I was waiting for my health insurance so I wouldn’t have to pay as much. Some birth control methods are crazy expensive without insurance and we’re trying to save up for a place so I thought I was making a good decision financially. Well his mother got insanely made again and said no that wasn’t going to work. To which my boyfriend annoyed replied “well it really isn’t any of your business” and she replied “two weeks is way too long to wait when you two are sharing a bed!” We tried to explain the whole abstinence thing and she basically called us rabbits and that we couldn’t be trusted to wait that long. This made me really angry. Because at the end of the day it’s my body and my choice. And even though I am uncomfortable being on birth control, I’m still willing to compromise. But all that aside, I am a grown adult and all this is my business. And I’m really uncomfortable with his parents being involved in that aspect of our relationship and told my boyfriend to tell them that as they haven’t listened to me when I’ve told them. AITA?

AITA for Speaking Up Against Catcalling on the Street?

Hello friends, I recently found myself in a situation where I felt compelled to speak out against street harassment. While on my way to the local market I witnessed a distressing scene ,a group of men catcalling and making inappropriate comments towards a young woman who was simply going about her day. This behavior made me uncomfortable and angry, so I decided to take action.I firmly approached the group of men and told them to stop their disrespectful behavior. I firmly believe that everyone should be able to walk down the street without being subjected to harassment or objectification. However, not everyone around me saw it that way. Some criticized my actions saying I should have minded my own business and not escalated the situation.

AITA for stepping in and speaking against this street harassment or should I have kept quiet and let it pass? I'm torn between standing up for what's right and respecting the opinions of those who think I should have stayed out of it.

"AITA for Planning a Surprise Party Without My Sister?"

Zoya and Arzu are sisters who live together. One day, Zoya decided to throw a surprise party for their mom's birthday. She spent a lot of time planning and preparing everything, including decorations, food, and inviting all their family and friends.

However, when Arzu found out about the surprise party, she got really upset. She felt like Zoya didn't include her in the planning process and made all the decisions without consulting her. Arzu thought that as sisters, they should have worked together to organize the party.

AITA for telling my sister she is required to wear a bra at my wedding

I love my sister. And truthfully when I say required I'm obviously not going to kick her out if she doesn't wear one but like she really really really needs to.

My sister is well endowed and hates bras. When she's wearing certain items like baggy t-shirts it's not so noticeable but in the dress (that she chose, I just gave her a color) she's wearing in my wedding it will very very obvious she's not wearing a bra and one wrong move and she could be flashing everyone. Not only does it look bad, but it's also borderline inappropriate.

AITA for Donating to a Women's Shelter Instead of Buying a Gift?

Hello friends, I need your opinion on the matter. My cousin's birthday is coming up and traditionally we exchange gifts within the family. this year instead of buying a physical gift I decided to make a donation to a local women's shelter in her name. The shelter provides a safe haven for women who have experienced domestic violence and helps them rebuild their lives.I made this choice because I know my cousin is passionate about women's rights and has supported similar causes in the past. I thought she would appreciate the gesture especially since the shelter could use the support. When I presented her with a card explaining the donation she seemed disappointed and even a bit hurt. She mentioned that she was expecting a traditional gift and did not see the donation as a thoughtful present. It led to some strange within the family, with some supporting my decision and others thinking I should have bought a tangible gift.

AITA for donating to a women's shelter instead of buying a physical gift for my cousin's birthday? I wanted to honor her values but it seems like it might not have been the right choice.

AITA for not allowing my kids go with their father?

I’m a clean and neat person. I believe in the kids being neat and clean as well. I recently discovered that non of the values and belief I instilled in my children was followed. My kids would come telling me how they would skip out on showers sometimes at their fathers house and the reason why is because neither him, his wife, or her kids believe in regular baths. I don’t want my kids to think that that’s something they shouldn’t be doing on a daily. Now when their father ask for them I make excuses so they won’t go. I’m trying not to hurt anyone’s feelings. AITA for doing this?

AITA for telling my boyfriend he’s being sexist?

My (32f) boyfriend (34m) said recently that an idea I had for storing my friends mattress at our house is a “girl plan”.

I asked, “what’s a girl plan?”
