Free to shit but not free to bleed 🤔
I was this many years old when I got fuming realising why people advocate for free period products. WHY is toilet paper free but pads and tampons aren't in public toilets?
Unnecessary Pelvic Exams on Unconscious Women by Med Students
I've heard about a controversial practice where medical students line up at the bed of a woman under anesthesia at the hospital and take turns practicing pelvic exams on her without her verbal consent. I never thought that much about the practice until I found this language (see screen shot) in a pelvic exam consent form my doctor is having me sign before coming into his office to discuss birth control. I'm livid and might be giving his office a piece of my mind tomorrow.
I ended up not signing the consent form electronically before coming to the appointment and was prepared to fight the office staff on that. Since I was just coming in to discuss IUDs and not be examined, they didn't care that I didn't sign it. I talked to my doctor about the paragraph in the consent form that I don't like and he was very passionate about the subject. He told me that although teaching is important, verbal consent before the procedure, and being introduced to the medical students should be law. I was happily surprised that he seemed as passionate about this issue as me and I he seemed genuine.
Doctor lied when I went on BC
I used to have very painful periods, and so when I started seeing the OBGYN I told her this. She suggested that I start birth control, and she literally told me, "because you're taking this for your periods, it won't stop you from getting pregnant." I was 14 at the time, so at first I didn't know better but eventually got wise. When I told my mother, she made excuses for her such as "she knows my morals," etc. I said it doesn't matter bc I'm her patient. I also didn't care for her bedside manner. As soon as I could, I switched providors. I wish I had done more, such as making a formal complaint.

Getting my IUD made me realize exactly how sexist medical care is
I have extreme PMDD and I got an IUD to help lessen symptoms. I think it's extremely sexist that they only give you information before the procedure about the best outcomes (Like healing in 2 days, an estimate of how much spotting, etc).
Then I was told during the procedure "you'll feel a pinch" and it just made me mad because my mom had it done and I knew before hand it was going to hurt.
Maccies
Used to work at maccies for about 4 years, I quit after I wasn’t called in on days I was supposed to work (I had this really weird seizure in town that made me look super drunk and I think that got back to my managers) anyhow by the end of these 4 years I was sick of it there, I was 19 at the time and this older man who worked with me thought it would be funny to whip a wet cloth on my arse. Not in the staff room or somewhere discreet, nope, in the middle of the restaurant whilst I was cleaning up. My mum and dad went mental and stormed in to yell at him and I saw the cctv footage of him spanking me with this wet cloth which made it even more disturbing. I quit a few weeks later, but yeah maccies definitely knows how to hide some of its dirty little secrets well.

It’s really not your job's business what you do with your body, but here we are.

Pregnant with ectopic risk
Hello all, I am turning 21 next week and just found out I was pregnant yesterday. I had severe pain and cramping for days and began bleeding so I went into the emergency room. I have a hemorrhaging cyst and PID right now. The doctors originally thought I was having an ectopic pregnancy but since I am 4 weeks along, they cannot find the location of the pregnancy. I’ve had PID (from unknown causes) three times already and have severe scarring, so they said there’s a likely chance when they are able to find the location of the pregnancy it may be ectopic. They are testing my HCG levels ever 48 hours to see if maybe the PID is causing a miscarriage, or if I continue to be pregnant. Because ectopic pregnancy termination requires a shot or surgery, I have to wait 2-3 weeks until they can see where it’s at. If the pregnancy is viable, they say that I can choose a termination method then if I wish. I’m hoping it’s a miscarriage or that it’s ectopic so I don’t have to choose. But if I do, what method do y’all recommend? What worked best and was the least painful? I’m thinking about surgical aspiration if I must get an abortion, but I know I may have to wait until 7/8 weeks for it to be most effective. I don’t know if I can wait that long with this inside me. I am a full time graduate student and I have been an absolute mess so I want it taken care of as soon as possible. What are your experiences with a medical or surgical abortion?

Your Preferred Birth Control Method?
There are various patches, other methods, several less recommended and some not always available (tubal ligation). Please chose from one of the 4 methods above or leave in the comments below. Thank you!
