Robert Lewandowski brace earns Barcelona first La Liga victory

VALENCIA: Robert Lewandowski struck twice for Hansi Flick’s Barcelona to deliver a battling 2-1 win against the home team in their La Liga 2024-25 opener at Mestalla Stadium on Saturday. The German coach celebrated his first competitive match at the helm with three points as Barcelona came from behind against Ruben Baraja’s solid Valencia side. I think the victory of Hansi Flick’s Barcelona over Valencia in their La Liga 2024-25 opener at Mestalla Stadium showcases the team's resilience and Lewandowski's prowess on the field. It's impressive to see Barcelona come from behind and secure a win under Flick's leadership, especially with key players missing and young talents stepping up. I believe this win sets a positive tone for Barcelona's season and highlights the team's depth and determination to compete for the La Liga title, making the upcoming matches against top rivals like Real Madrid even more exciting to watch. Man City hit with Rodri injury setback ahead of Chelsea opener

Manchester City will be without Rodri for the start of their Premier League title defence after Pep Guardiola revealed the Spain midfielder has been ruled out of Sunday’s opener against Chelsea. The influential 28-year-old has only just returned to training after being forced off at half-time during Spain’s 2-1 win against England in last month’s Euro 2024 final. I think Rodri's absence will definitely be felt by Manchester City at the start of their Premier League title defense against Chelsea. Guardiola's confirmation that Rodri won't be available for the opener adds a layer of challenge for City, especially considering his influence in the midfield. While the return of Foden, Stones, and Walker could provide a boost, the absence of Rodri might impact City's ability to kick off their campaign at full strength. Guardiola's concern about fitness issues potentially affecting their performance further underscores the importance of a strong and balanced squad from the get-go. Expected Chelsea XI vs Wrexham as Nkunku starts and Dewsbury-Hall debut

Chelsea kick off their 2024 pre-season tour of the United States with a friendly against Wrexham on Wednesday evening (Thursday 3am BST).It will be the first taste of football from Enzo Maresca for Blues supporters as the Italian takes charge of his first match since being appointed head coach last month. Chelsea and Maresca worked together to build a 28-man squad for the trip to the States with some players expected to join up later on during the two-and-a-half week tour. I think Chelsea's pre-season tour in the United States presents an exciting opportunity for fans to witness Enzo Maresca's managerial debut with the team. The absence of Trevoh Chalobah and Alfie Gilchrist from the squad indicates significant decisions regarding the club's transfer and loan strategies, showcasing Chelsea's forward planning and vision for the upcoming season. I believe Maresca's selection dilemmas reflect a depth of talent within the squad, setting the stage for an intriguing start to Chelsea's pre-season journey. Euro 2024 final loss 'will hurt for a long time': Kane

England captain Harry Kane said Sunday's 2-1 Euro 2024 final loss to Spain, the Three Lions' second-successive defeat in the tournament's showpiece game, will "hurt for a long time". England lost the Euro 2020 final on penalties to Italy at Wembley, having made it to the semi-finals of the World Cup two years earlier. I think it's truly heartbreaking to see England face another tough loss in a major tournament final, especially after the disappointment of Euro 2020 and previous World Cup exits. Harry Kane's words reflect the deep emotional impact these defeats have on the team and the fans. Despite the efforts to come back into the game, Spain's late goal sealed the victory, adding to the pain of another near miss for England. I believe the resilience and determination shown by the team in these challenging moments will be crucial in their future endeavors on the international stage. What's your thoughts🤔💭? Arsenal tipped to land 'dream' signing by triggering Williams release clause

Arsenal have been tipped to sign Nico Williams in a "dream" summer deal and told to make a move for Victor Osimhen to solve their striker problems."Arsenal’s dream signing this summer would be Nico Williams," Petit told bet365’s Euro 2024. I think the potential signing of Nico Williams could bring an exciting dimension to Arsenal's squad, especially considering his impressive performances during Euro 2024. I believe his skill and versatility could indeed address some of Arsenal's needs, particularly in the right-back position. Additionally, the suggestion to pursue Victor Osimhen to bolster their striking options could further strengthen the team's attacking prowess. It's an intriguing prospect that could enhance Arsenal's competitiveness in the upcoming season. What's your thoughts🤔💭?  Regard : Queen12Jul 14, 2024

It's great to see the head of state congratulating the team and wishing them well for the final while also jokingly urging them to secure victory without the need for any last-minute dramatics. Carlos Alcaraz sets up repeat Daniil Medvedev Wimbledon semi-final

Defending champion Carlos Alcaraz shrugged off the loss of the first set to beat Tommy Paul on Tuesday and set up a repeat Wimbledon semi-final with Daniil Medvedev. The Spanish world number three, seeking a fourth Grand Slam title, beat his 12th-seeded opponent 5-7, 6-4, 6-2, 6-2 under the No. 1 Court roof. I think Carlos Alcaraz's comeback victory against Tommy Paul at Wimbledon was truly impressive. Despite losing the first set and facing challenges early on, Alcaraz showed incredible resilience and determination to turn the match around, ultimately dominating the later sets with strong serves and minimized errors. I believe his performance exemplifies his skill and mental strength, setting the stage for an exciting semi-final rematch with Daniil Medvedev. It's a testament to Alcaraz's talent and fighting spirit on the court. What's your thoughts🤔💭?  Regard : Queen12Jul 10, 2024

Enzo Maresca's frustrations at Pep Guardiola comparisons explained

If you were expecting chat about Pep Guardiola during Enzo Maresca's first press conference as Chelsea head coach, you would have been disappointed. There was not one mention of the Manchester City manager, the person Maresca worked under at the Etihad Stadium during the club's famous treble-winning 2022/23 campaign. The fact he worked under Guardiola, coupled with his possession-based style of football - comparisons were always going to be made between the two. I think it's quite intriguing how Enzo Maresca's coaching journey has been intertwined with Pep Guardiola's influence, especially considering their time together at Manchester City during the treble-winning season. I believe Maresca's determination to carve out his own coaching identity, as shown by his reluctance to entertain constant comparisons to Guardiola, demonstrates his commitment to establishing his unique coaching style and philosophy. It'll be interesting to see how Maresca continues to evolve as a coach while navigating the shadow of Guardiola's legacy and expectations. What's your thoughts🤔💭?  Regard : Queen12 Jul 8, 2024

England beat Switzerland on penalties to keep Euro 2024 dream alive

England’s quest for a first major tournament win in 58 years remained alive after another late fightback before beating Switzerland 5-3 on penalties to book their place in the Euro 2024 semi-finals on Saturday. After the 120 minutes finished level at 1-1, goalkeeper Jordan Pickford was the England’s hero in the shoot-out as he saved Switzerland’s first spot-kick from Manuel Akanji. I think England's journey in Euro 2024 is truly captivating, showcasing the team's resilience and determination. Bukayo Saka's redemption with that crucial penalty and Jordan Pickford's heroics in the shoot-out were defining moments. The team's ability to fight back late in games, like with Jude Bellingham's equalizer against Slovakia and Saka's goal against Switzerland, highlights their never-say-die attitude. It's inspiring to see how they are overcoming challenges and keeping the dream of a major tournament win alive after 58 years.  What your thoughts🤔💭?  Regard : Queen12 Jul 7, 2024

6 Celtic fringe players and youngsters who impressed in Ayr United friendly

It was only a pre-season game but Celtic fans are an expectant bunch and would have been wanting a result and performance against Ayr United. The former wasn't to be as the sides cancelled each other out in a 1-1 draw to mark the home side's unveiling of their new stand at Somerset Park.  I think that the 1-1 draw between Celtic and Ayr United in the pre-season game was a fair result, with both teams showing moments of quality. Kyogo and Anton Dowds scoring from penalties added excitement to the match. It was a good opportunity for fringe players and youth prospects to showcase their abilities, with some players impressing despite the friendly nature of the game. Overall, I believe it was a valuable exercise for both teams to assess their squad depth and potential ahead of the upcoming season. What's your thoughts🤔💭?  Regard : Queen12 Jul 6, 2024

Chelsea news and transfers LIVE with N'Golo Kante claim after Williams battle

Chelsea have been installed as favourites to sign N'Golo Kante. The French midfielder has been in fine form for France and bookmakers have named the Blues as favourites to resign the 33-year-old. Elsewhere, Enzo Maresca's side could be back in the lead to sign Nico Williams after Liverpool may have some problems according to reports. It has been suggested that to leave Athletic Club, the winger will want to take home an estimated request of £300,000-per-week in wages which would make him the second-highest paid player at Anfield, behind only Mohamed Salah. I think Chelsea's potential signing of N'Golo Kante could further strengthen their squad, especially with his proven abilities and experience. The reported wage demands for Nico Williams could be a significant factor in any potential transfer, and it seems like Chelsea is actively shaping their squad with both new signings and potential exits. It will be interesting to see how these developments unfold and how they impact Chelsea's performance in the upcoming season. I believe Chelsea's strategic approach to transfers and player sales will play a crucial role in shaping their team for the future. What's your thoughts 🤔💭 ?  Regard : Queen12 Jul 4, 2024

Arsenal's summer transfer window could finally kick into life with Mikel Arteta and Edu handed four big updates. Lawrence Shankland and what stops his Hearts transfer exit and being £30m star

John Collins says Lawrence Shankland's lack of mobility is what has stopped him from getting a big transfer and more chances for Scotland.Despite heading to Euro 2024 off the back of 31 goals for Hearts, the striker was only used from the bench by Steve Clarke, who preferred Che Adams as his lone striker. In fact, the 28-year-old was only used for a total of 23 minutes across the three games as the manager seemed reluctant to even throw him on when in need of a goal. I think John Collins' assessment of Lawrence Shankland's lack of mobility impacting his chances for a big transfer and more playing time for Scotland makes sense. Despite his impressive goal-scoring record for Hearts, his style might not suit the lone striker role preferred by Steve Clarke. Shankland's strength lies in his ability to score close to the goal rather than making runs from deep positions. If he played in a system with two wingers providing service into the box, he might be more effective. I believe Shankland's playing style and mobility limitations have influenced his opportunities both at the club and international level. What's your thoughts🤔💭? Regard : Queen12 Jun 30, 2024

Lionel Messi to miss Argentina-Peru Copa America clash: team

Lionel Messi will miss Argentina’s final Copa America group game against Peru after complaining of muscle tightness, team officials said on Friday.Assistant coach Walter Samuel told a press conference that the Inter Miami superstar was “day-by-day” following an injury to his right adductor muscle. I think Lionel Messi's absence due to muscle tightness is a setback for Argentina, as he is a key player with his exceptional skills and leadership. However, I believe that Argentina has shown resilience in the past when Messi was not available, and with players like Angel Di Maria stepping up, they still have a strong team capable of performing well. Securing a spot in the quarter-finals already is a testament to their overall strength, and I am hopeful they will continue to excel even without Messi in this particular match against Peru. His goal in the victory against Bolivia highlights his skill and contribution to his team's success. With Uruguay leading Group C with a perfect record, I believe they are in a strong position to secure a spot in the quarter-finals, especially considering their upcoming match against the USA. Tottenham-bound Luka Vuskovic to join Westerlo on loan

Tottenham Hotspur-bound defender Luka Vuskovic has agreed to join Belgian Pro League side Westerlo on loan next season. The 17-year-old defender signed for Tottenham from Hadjuk Split in a deal worth around £12m ($15m) in September last year, but FIFA rules mean he has to wait until his eighteenth birthday in 2025 to officially join up with Ange Postecoglou's squad. I think it's fantastic to see young talents like Luka Vuskovic making strides in their careers. His journey from Hadjuk Split to Tottenham Hotspur and now to Westerlo on loan shows his dedication and skill. It's impressive how he's already making a name for himself at such a young age, especially with his achievements in the Croatian top flight and on loan at Radomiak Radom.
