Ricardo Quaresma celebrates his fortieth birthday.

Talent, some have referred to it as innate talent, although the word talent must inherently be innate, as it is a gift from God. Others described it as exceptional, while some added the word extraordinary, and sometimes unique. But there is another type of talent, the talent of Quaresma!

That talent that God bestowed between the feet and mind of a single player... Feet that move the ball with excessive charm and a mind that shapes it as he pleases. The beginning of a player coming with strength to make a new history, quickly maneuvering among the greats of the game, if not being the greatest of all. But!

This talented individual did not possess the mentality to complement that divine gift; it was excessive and wasteful, gradually fading into the shadows. While his friend and companion on this journey shines and sparkles year after year, Quaresma withdraws to the corner of those who indulged and were forgotten among the football enthusiasts.

Quaresma's greatness manifested itself between 2006 and 2007, at the "Dragao" stadium, where Porto resides. Touches and skills that few others possess, a charm that dazzles both minds and eyes, with displays that invite applause and a "Rabona" executed with Quaresma's quality. An outer-foot that sends the ball with passes and crosses, then surprises you with shots. Talents and abilities that rarely converge in a player like Quaresma.

A journey to Barcelona and also Inter, and another to Chelsea. Years lost on airplanes, a mind lost in the obsession with tricks and the latest hairstyles. A body that abandoned hard work, extinguishing the brilliance of its owner. Few truly feel or appreciate his worth. But despite the bitterness of his fading brilliance, the magic still plays with the minds that fell in love with the splendor and beauty of the multi-talented icon.
