Footy world cup 2022, maybe not able to watch in Thailand😨. Very very sad😥😰😭
Nov 16, 2022 2:46 PM
With just a few days to go and the broadcasting rights to air the world cup have not been paid for. The price is 1.6 billion Baht. Sounds a lot but not really.😎
The Nation 14/11/22 (Thai newspaper) www.nationthailand.com/thailand/40022044 for following bold quotes:
"He added that SAT had been in talks with Fifa but the price was unlikely to be lowered before the deadline on Friday (November 18). If Thailand failed to sign the contract by the deadline, viewers would not be able to watch any of the World Cup’s 64 matches on free TV, he said."
The price of 1.6 Billion Baht which equates to just under 45 million dollars, in good old Thai fashion, they are trying to haggle the price down. According to TheThaiger.com: Fifa has already said NO as of 15th November. Furthermore, the government also said they would pony up 600 million Baht and another 600 million from (cough) the government too🤔:
"Kongsak Yodmanee spoke after receiving 600 million baht from the National Broadcasting and Telecommunications Commission (NBTC)
On Sunday, Tourism and Sports Minister Phiphat Ratchakitprakarn said he hoped SAT could negotiate the price down to 1.2 billion baht. Phiphat’s plan is to borrow the other 600 million baht from the National Sports Development Fund and be repaid by private advertisers after sponsorship rights have been negotiated.
The World Cup has been broadcast on free TV in Thailand since 1970."
So, two branches of the government when really it should be a private enterprise that funds this from the off: The revenue made from advertising is astronomic and no one can be bothered. This a very sad day for Thais as here they are sooooo passionate about football and to miss out on being able to watch match by match in Thai commentary too is just unfair IMO.
As some Thai's have said: " 'That' company in Thailand have a near monopoly over, supermarkets, convenience stores, malls, food, drink, animal feed ...and so on. Just one day's profit is more than the bill for the World cup rights". And I tend to agree. Why doesn't this big company buy the rights then advertise all its usual crap anyway? Thais are at a loss why. The clock is ticking and only 4 days left. Very sad.😰
Ok, watch it via the net/IPTV ...umm, Imo, and lol ...it will crash big time with 20+ million Thais tuning in at the same time ....and that will be super sad.😰
Come on someone in Thailand (or "That" big company) chip in and make Thais happy eh.😍
Me too and my expat mates ...we are all looking forward to it, don't let us down🙏
Feel lucky in your respective countries where you can watch ok.👍
Cheers, CryptoGlyn.🦆
