Saudi Pro League Done Deals

Jul 4, 2023 6:51 AM

This transfer window has been a very unique one where the clubs of Saudi Pro league are very very active in the markets of Europe and we all know once they start throwing in money they would be hard to stop and many clubs can't match their valuations in the market.

Following are the deals that have took place and the good thing about majority of these deals is that a player who is in his prime has been picked in these deals , this is something that wasn't happening before.

1. Edouard Mendy, GK: Chelsea to Al Ahli (£16m, $21m)

This is a transfer that is favourable for all parties, as Mendy was once undropable as he was the mainstay of Chelsea's defence, he has won a Champions league with them and has performed solidly but in the end he has got injured and as a result he has lost his place to Kepa . Now Chelsea has decided to sell him in order to generate some funds and to avoid Financial Fair Play. This transfer will be very useful to Saudi team as well as he will provide them solidity on the back as well.

2. Kalidou Koulibaly, DF: Chelsea to Al Hilal (£17m, $21.61m)

A player for whom Chelsea has paid heavily but couldn't either settle into life or else has passed his prime and after just a single season they have opted to sell him in order to cut short their losses. For Saudi club they will be hoping that he will be able to find his best form again and that will prove very useful to them,

3. Karim Benzema, FW: Real Madrid to Al Ittihad (Free transfer)

This has been one of the biggest transfers for Saudi league this season as he was playing at the peak of his skills at Real Madrid and they have reportedly offered him a contract extension which he has denied swiftly and opted to join the Saudi Club on a three year deal . This deal has started another new era for the Saudi league as he was the first big name to join them this summer. The magnitude of the deal can be seen with the effect that there were more people who have attended his presentation than even for Cristiano Ronaldo so this is something massively.

4.  Ruben Neves, MF: Wolverhampton Wanderers to Al Hilal (€55m, $60m

This is another huge transfer for the Saudi League as the stature of the player might not be that big but he still has his best years ahead of him and that is something of great interest and help the overall league grow. This transfer has many great implications as this will pave a new way for other players joining them in their prime years.

For Neves this will be a new challenge for him and as Wolves barely survived last season so this wasn't an ideal scenario for him to stay there and a fresh challenge will be more than useful for the player as well.

5.  Marcelo Brozovic, MF: Inter Milan to Al Nassr (€18m, $20m)

This is another positive transfer for the Saudi league as Brozovic has been playing really well for Inter Milan and he still has got four to five years ahead of him. So this will be a transfer that is good for the player and the league and Inter will not be too happy for loosing one of their main players and it was again shrewd piece of business for the league.

6.  Jota, FW: Celtic to Al Ittihad (£25m, $31.7m)

This is another big deal that has been struck this season summer transfer window as he is a young winger that has many great years ahead of him and he has been signed now this is something that will mark another new dawn for the Saudi league as they have signed many great great players that are relatively young too and can provide a lot of value for money for them which will turn things around in the future.
